This is getting weird. It sounds pretty unlikely to me that pin 3 of the 555 is not connected to anything because...that's the output....
At least normally it is.....

Gonna have to check this with the PCB. But for now, I'm going to strip the Asteroids cab and give it a 100% cleaning. I think that's mostly the "restoration" work this is going to need.

The CPO is a bid faded, but I think finding a NOS one anywhere is a little bit unlikely ;)

Gotta scan everything though !!

....but not in this case. They used another signal as output.....

But I'm not delving deeper into this for now, at the moment I"m completely stripping the cab. This is a first for me. So far I've always done restorations in steps. I don't think that's the most efficient way (anymore) ;) Taking lots of pics as I go...
