the restoration ends ...ok, let's finish this before i reach the one-year mark

when i got my wizard of wor, i was wondering why the marquee light wasn't working. most of the time it's either the tube or the starter which have to be changed, making this an easy fix. but this time it was a little bit different ...

nothing in there at all, someone "stole" the entire light fixture

after a lot of asking around, i found one which resembled the original fixture, had the correct measurements and was working

in order to spread the light more evenly, i decided to paint the wooden board of the light fixture in the same color as the cabinet - off-white. although the color is going to be invisible behind the marquee, it should help reflect the light!

on location

because the fixture is running on 230 volts, but it was only being fed with 110 volts, it had to be rewired. when andré was over for his wrong-way-round orange roadtrip, he traced the wires and by moving one wire to the 230V tab of the transformer, it lit up nicely!

don't you just love that marquee?

glows in the dark!

and finally - some shots of the finished cabinet

it's been a long, strenuous restorations with a lot of ups and downs, but in the end it was all well worth it: great-looking cabinet, eerie sounds and voices (the wizard speaks german), psychedelic video effects, fabulous gameplay - i couldn't be happier! as always, thx a lot for your nice comments and support. rest assured: the next restoration is just around the corner ...
