Mmm, I did try to set both like the original for free play but it still wanted credits. Could be bad dip switches of course...
Yes there is something that looks like an audio amp near that pot.
Found this board in a Royal Video cabinet that I was asked to have a look at by a friend. It works fine but they hooked up the P2 button as the credit switch.
The Cabinet is from 1986 and there's a sticker saying Neo Geo on the back. The power supply is a huge switcher with a loud fan (probably at the end of its life).
The only real issue is has are on the Jamma edge connector, colors going out, sound not working, joystick up not working were all doen to bad contacts there. Will,replace the edge connector and I might actually pop a 60in1 in there if they like it.....it's good enough for people who have just one general cab
