If you ask me, and you have a lcd and a crt pc monitor, i would go for the crt, at least you will have a crt in the cabinet untill you find a replacement.

Monitors are much easier to find in the US than here in europe.

You will need a converter to use a pc monitor, thats for both a lcd or a crt pc monitor

It all sounds harsh here, but CRT is the way to go, LCD are a big NO  ;)

I think you would not have these reactions if you wrote you wanted to use a crt pc monitor as a temp solution.

In arcade land (at least classic arcade land) LCD's are not loved..

Understood, I am new at this, a complete newbie. When I bought this Tron, I did not look at it as a classic, but as a part of my past and one of my favorite games, others are Galaga,Satans Hollow and Bosconian. I never thought of repairs and such, I like DIY, it makes you learn, so, here I am. I reread what I wrote earlier, I thought I wrote Drama Queens, there was so much Drama,LOL!! Did not mean anything from it, just a stupid statement as you would normally hear in real life if you are in a crowd causing Drama.

Here is what I am trying to use, just do not know the correct wiring to connect it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arcade-game-RGB-CGA-EGA-YUV-to-VGA-HD-video-converter-board-1VGA-output-8200-New-/301365645654?pt=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item462acad156

That is what this post is supposed to be about, that converter and properly connecting it.

Your converter should work.
Just wire the -I guess- 5 wires coming from the Tron pcb (Red, Green, Blue, Sync and Ground) going to your CRT monitor into the 'RGB in' connector.
If I remember well, on such converter, you have a 'Vertical sync' pin but also an 'Horizontal sync' pin. Not sure what the Tron PCB is sending on the Sync wire, but try to hook it on V and/or H input pin(s).

Those are great games you are listing there.

All classics.

Lets make a new start, lets forget the drag queen party, as i am not really dressing up like a woman also.

It just derailed when your first post here was "i need help to f#ck up a good classic game"

So lets rephrase that;

"i need help to hook up a pc crt monitor in my cabinet as a probably temporary solution untill i find a real arcade replacement monitor"

I dont have any personal experience with these converters, so i can not help you very much.

Perhaps Darthnuno can, he has one in the APB from the thread you reffered to earlier.

Good luck !

Send the monitor chassis to Chad at arcadecup.com -- he'll get you all fixed up.

Don't put an LCD in that awesome game!

I agree, I do apologize to the entire forum for my actions, I now see what everyone was trying to say that I took as attacks. I will be picking up a monitor from a member from klov as soon as we make an agreement on a day\time to meet. I never wanted to go thru all this with my beloved Tron, I just wanted to play it. But thank you and everyone for still giving me advice and help after all this. I hope to have this monitor soon.

Wow, I came here based on this post "https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=630.0" hoping for real grown up help, instead I get a bunch of ignorant childness comments. Screw it, I will make this Tron unit into a Mame box, already have everything I need. I did nothing wrong to any of you, all I did was ask a question, so I am a newbie to using forums and did not understand, small simple mistake, that makes a good reason to blast me? I must have came to a drag queen festival, because this straight man don't fit in......excuse me "ladies".

hehe.. i like you. :)
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!

Hi Reno.

Just returned from vacation and read this story. A lot of people here make huger efforts to bring original arcade cabs back to their former glory, and that includes 'new' CRT monitors sometimes. In some forums you might get help on how to put a LCD into a TRON machine....but not here!! ;)   The picture will be very crappy and you won't be satisfied. The money you would have to spend for the converters to get a decent picture at all will be the same to get a working monitor.

You're in the USA so it shouldn't be a problem at all to get a CRT for your TRON. Take John's advice and have someone repair the chassis for your or register at the KLOV-forums, you will find lots of help there.

As long as you forget about the LCD-idea, you will get lots of help from here :)

Good luck! :)
