Race hard drivin
« on: October 31, 2012, 06:55:10 PM »
This will be a topic about the race and hard drivin cabs I have
Most people will know the story behind the two hard drivin’s I have

So lets start whit race drivin.
Yesterday morning saw an ad on the dutch marktplaats for a free race drivin immediately sent the guy an email.
After that looking at the forum also saw some body has posted the link over here. over the day didn’t hear anything, ant the day went buy to bad heart nothing.
Than after dinner 19.30 the phone rings it was the guy from the race drivin if I can pick it up immediately?
If I can find a car and trailer it will be no problem I say, so I had 30 minutes to arrange it otherwise he will call the next one on the list.

Asking my dad if I can take the car ,no problem
Asking a friend if he is free and if I can use his trailer ,no problem

So everything is set calling the seller I can be there in 40 minutes and now I am the owner of a race drivin sorry no road trip pics.

And here the pic’s of the game

The game:

Artwork
Left site is missing right site a part is still there  back artwork still there but came lose a bit

Boards looking complete

Cockpit part of the game

Controls only completely missing the steering wheel :-[

Back of the steering part got the feeling I am also missing something here
Pot bracket part and whirring :-\

the seat has seen better days

when opening the game I found some rely useful information

Also some extra money ,first game I make a profit on ;D

Power on test

Control panel still disconnected when crediting the game it gives a ping so it’s a sort of working I think

That it for now hop to unload the game this evening

Great save!

O wow, I never knew there was even artwork on the "back/ front" of the RD cab, how cool is that !!!!

Notice the arrow and word LINK :)

Hah Bart, you now almost have enough hardware to make a "Panorama": http://arcarc.xmission.com/Web%20Archives/Jeff%20Andersen%20(Sep%2027%202003)/rdp/default.htm

Good you already had that VGA test set-up ;)

Well the most important stuff seems to work: the board-set ! :)

Remember you _can_ swap the board-set into the HD cabs....

Spent some time on the hard and race drivings today

The two toys to keep in the game room

The third one will be sacrificed for part's to get the other two complete running

Found an way to pull of the plastic tops makes working on them a lot easier

Closer look at the race drivin monitor looks like in the past they already got some problems  only fix it this way :-\

Also when taking a closer look I saw some blown caps this will need a cap kit before it works.

That’s it for today now it’s time to take off to town for some beers ;D ,hope to do some more update’s tomorrow

Nice "fix". Those 5500 monitors are total PITAs.... must be a bad soldering somewhere or maybe a broken track.

At least you have one extra mid-res tube now, whatever you do, do not throw away any of them ! :)

After a long break
At the moment extremely busy to rebuilt the arcade for a party next weekend.
Decided to spent a day working on the hard driving and finally some luck.
Race driving boards in the hard driving cab complete working.
Sound, force feedback, shifter
It’s a bit of a Frankenstein cab a mix of hardware from two hard driving’s and one race driving

Small gameplay video driving is bad but it’s hard to drive and shift whit one hand and filming whit the other ;D
