Playstation 1 demopod

Got a playstation 1 demopod recently. Because - just like de playstation 2 demopod - there is no info on the net, i thought i put it here also.

This is i think the most common and nicest model here in the Netherlands because i have seen this model a few times on marktplaats. (have seen 2 other models).



To bad it doesn't have light.



The arms-part that hold the controller can be interchanged with the one for the playstation 2 demopod.



With the original arm-part it can only hold the oldest controllers, the ones without the analog sticks. So if you want the 2nd model with analog sticks you have to find the arm-part for the playstation 2 demopod



The tv model is a small widescreen sony: KV-16wt1



The remote for the tv. (you can use other sony remote aswell. have tested rm 887, rm 883, rm 862). Mine didn't came with one so searched local 2nd hand shop for one and found those last two which did the job for 50 cent each. 



It's hold on the plateau by 2 screwtops (forgot the make a photo of those) under the tv and a plastic plate pushing on the top of the tv.

The key is not interchangeable with the ps2 demopods, this one has a flat key, which i don't have 



The back of the pod is made of plastic just like ps2 demopod, even the screws are plastic.















The bottom doesn't have wheels.



The powercabel is also same as the ps2 demopod.

I´m sure that someday collectors will love console demopods, I mean there are also car hobbiest who now have a weak spot for the once incredible ugly Volvo 340, but for now all these demopods are only good to put in the back end areas of large warehouses, where they can collect dust for decades to come. This is of course MHO.

fabulous, thx - now there's tons of pictures! haven't seen a ps1 demopod like that before either, doesn't look too bad. however, when compared with the other demopod models, i think thosse playstation demopods are at the low end of the beauty scale. well, wouldn't expect anything else from sony . nevertheless, i'd like to have one of those beasts in the future as well!

Well, yes, of course, Candy cab gaming is all about arcade gaming, just like with classic cab gaming. And it´s nice to see that the virus get´s a bit of a foothold. After all, it´s all about arcade lifestyle.

i think thosse playstation demopods are at the low end of the beauty scale. well, wouldn't expect anything else from sony . nevertheless, i'd like to have one of those beasts in the future as well!

I agree, they are not the nicest ones but because i have many many games (> x00) for both playstations and many of them are arcade conversions (not comparible with real arcade games i know) i can have some sort of arcade feeling playing those games in a "cabinet". It's all about funds 

Found it on marktplaats offcourse  It was my 4th bid on a playstation 1 pod and luckily this time i got it and this one is complete and in good condition.

Is an arcade conversion playing on the playstation in a demopod not a cheap version of a candy cab? just missing a real arcade stick instead of controllers, which you can get also.
Because those real game pcb for the cabs are expensive (especially japanese games for those candy cabs) and hard to find and if you want to play them all is an mission impossible, a playstation version can help.

Many who have a candy cab make it possible to put a dreamcast or xbox in it to play those games because its cheaper and easier to get hold of.
A playstation is even easier for most games (not the recent ones which it can't cope with)
