Yep, indeed, i recognise it from the best Modem chips, the good old 33,6K modems ! (comport or ISA card, not that crappy winmodem stuff)

Sorry, it was my underlaying question. Searching B6000E was delivering too much results....  I thought that knowing the brand would help a little.

Strange chip. Do you have a picture ? Is that really ALL the coding on it ?

I have a feeling it might be an "amputated" Intel 8008 or something...there weren't that many microprocessors around in 1976.

8008 is 18 pins, yours is 40.....can't be something similar....

I realize this thread is 2 1/2 years dead, but that chip is in the same family as the chips used in the Mattel handheld LED games like Battlestar Galactica Space Alert (B6001EA) and Football (B6100EB).  I've decapped those chips and taken die shots with hopes of getting them emulated in MESS, but have been unable to find any documentation on the CPUs.  I visually transcribed the ROM bits from Battlestar Galactica, but without knowing the opcodes, it's tough to go any further.  It's possible that your B6000 was used in another handheld game or a calculator.

Knowing Blanka (who's aim is (still ?) publishing a book about handhelds I am pretty sure it was from one of those handhelds you mention.

Nice to see a new post.There's a guy in the US able to dump roms for many handheld games and putting them in MESS. I'll continue the optical way soon. I decided to move to new job at a high school, and the first year is hard work. They do have fume cabinets though and good microscopes .
