AIRLINE PILOTS *the video* ...and other UK things...
« on: April 14, 2008, 05:27:37 PM »
Back from few days in London...

Better than the simple...far better than the double... here's the *triple* whopper burger  :P

Ok...no jokes please  ;D

Let's go -once again- to the biggest Arcade in London

The FUNLAND is located in the Trocadero at Picadilly Circus / London.

And this time, I won't miss The game : AIRLINE PILOTS *deluxe* from SEGA

Here's a quick video I've done

I dunno why but I really like this game. So zen... so cool... I love it  :-* :-* :-*

I already done many pictures of this Arcade in other post, so here's just few things...

This year, a second After Burner climax *deluxe*

Once was not enough ??? Ok... it's now possible to play in link mode  8)

The games are in very good condition ...

Some old school games inside these Jaleco cab'

New dancing game with movements detection... impressive !

Now it's clear... I won't find a Dragon's Lair or a Pac Man up & running here  :'( :'( :'(

But they are these beautiful games :

The new TEKKEN 6 :

A new Japanime shop, close to the entrance

...and a lot of goodies  :P

I cannot resist. I bought this T-shirt  :-*

WHat that ? Is it a burned screen ?  :D

The UK guys are really 'Space Invaders' addict... A true Pop-Icon  :)

There was also a very interesting game located in a shop called 'ZAVVA' (it was a VIRGIN MEGASTORE last year) :

A Galaxian by Namco  :-*

YES NAMCO  :-* :-* :-*

...but not a Japanese model, but a cab made in Italy under license :

I've checked on the back... but stickers or other identity sign...

Regarding the hardware, I would say it's a 48in1 pcb, but locked with only 9 games :

I hope some of our Italian members here will give us more details about F.LLI BERTOLINO  ??? :P

Yes Bruno,

Fratelli Bertolino s.r.l. were the official italian distributor of Atari arcades in the 80's.

I remember Asteroids with Bertolino's logo in the marquee  :-\

But is very strange to find a Galaxians Bertolino's cab in UK

This is an old old old game flyers:

PROJECTS FROM SCRATCH:

Galaga - PacMan - Donkey Kong Red Cab - Track & Field Upright - Tempest - Burgertime - Gyruss - Defender - Track & Field Cocktail - Robotron 2084

RESTORATIONS:

Hi Bruno,
Great pics and video. Did you buy the Airline Pilots game? I regret not buying one of those last year. Someone close to my house was selling one for about $900.

Thanks for the pics my friend !!!

Yes I love Airline Pilots too (and so does my son)!!! For those interested, there is one of them at the arcade in Scheveningen, Holland: http://www.funland.nl

I always play it when we're there. It's amazing how this cab makes you feel you're really moving with a very heavy airplane, while there is NO movement at all !  Must be the extra side monitors.

About the Galaxian: I WANT IT, I WANT IT !!! That's the COOLEST looking Galaxian ever !!! Someone HAS to scan this artwork, it's unique !!!!

I've already posted some pics on BYOAC of that same machine. Did you ask if they would sell it ??
I would immediatly kick out the 48in1 and put a real Galaxian board in there....

I would hate to have to play it with buttons though. My current Galaxian has the usual 2-way stick and it works great. I actualy remember being very annoyed by the two-button controls way back in the 80's when I found a machine that used that to play Galaxian. I remember thinking "What the f..k is this ???" :)

Still, I love that machine.....it's absolutely gorgeous !!!!

Coool... I'll contact them... and ask if they plan to sell it... who knows  ::) 8)

Regarding that beautiful Galaxian... because It's in a HUGE shop (I even guess it's the biggest 'ex-Virgin Megastore' in London  :o), there was only the shop assistants and of course... no person in charge at all  :-[ But I have an other way to contact them  ;) Wait & See then

Of course I played on it... and I agree with you ... playing Galaxian with only buttons was very ...hum... weird  :ghost:

Back from an other trip (not road) in UK  :)

I'm a fan of BK (Opps sorry Polaris  but there's no BK in Belgium  ::)) and also a big *Starbucks coffee* fan  :P :P

...I cannot resist too   :D

OK, still nice Retro T-shirts...

...of course, I had to buy fews... for the new road trip to come  ;)

Still useful to look around. See these stairs ... and the lamps inside ...

It could be a nice addition for the upcoming v  ::) ;)

Let's check what's new in the FUNLAND :

The new Sega Rally 3, very fun

Not new, but I have to test that Out Run2 ...

...in order to compare the gameplay with mine.

Still the same Guitar Freaks game... at the same location

(it reminds me I still have to check my GF cab )

The famous AIRLINE PILOTS  :-* :-* :-*

A brand new music game : UBB€at

It's like a DDR game, but you play music with your fingers...

...on very small buttons/screens :

Yes... one button = one mini screen... Impressive!  :o 8)  :-* :-* :-*

Sad to see so many games... and no one for playing them  :-\

Just at the exit of the FunLand, a nice Japanese store, with lot of Mario, Sonic, and manga stuff

HUm ... one Music Hall later (don't laugh please.... it's for my wife  ::) :P) ...

The fantastic toy shop -> FORBIDDEN PLANET  :-* You must go there  8)

Wanna buy this R2-D2 projector (1700£) or this Falcon Millennium remote controller ?

A good surprise during this few days UK trip : The non permanent museum called 'Movieum' :

Movieum goes behind-the-scenes of the British film industry showcasing the great UK talent that has produced some of the world's most famous movies

A set from the Star Wars episode 4... I'm in  :-* :-* :-* :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

I want this in my Game Room  :-* :-* :-*

"I'm the law"... and the real bike used on the moive  :)

Full size , of course  :-*

Do you remember KRULL  :-*

A cartoon section...

Did you say the Dragon's Lair or Space Ace original cells are expensive ? Check this out ...

Remember the Galaxian in the ZAVVI few month ago ??? Remember

... well, it's not here anymore... See

I've asked to the employees, but they don't know what where the cab is now  :-\

Anyway... it was a short but very fun UK Trip (but too much rain IMO  :?;)

 :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:
