Congrats André, this is an awesome cab and a great classic game!! :)

I like how the different missions can be selected and the instructions are lit from underneath :)

Fuck, I hate paying taxes !! I mean, we are already taxed to death here....isn't it ever enough ?

Picked up a (rather large) box from the post office today....despite my requests once again the FULL value was put on the outside of the box hence I got to pay almost 50 Euros !!!

I guess I was "lucky" because I "Only" had to pay VAT, not import duties....HOORAY !!! :(

Next time I buy from this seller I will have it shipped to my uncle and aunt and ask them to forward it with all papers removed and as a gift....

I mean the shipping of this box was almost 70 bucks alone. Must be the size because it sure couldn't be the weight......I think it is in the insurance but who needs freaking insurance, I have NEVER had stuff missing or damaged between the US and here !

Anyway, in it there were these goodies:

1x Asteroids plexi bezel
1x Asteroids CPO
2x black smooth T-molding
2x Asteroids cardboard bezel

One of the two cardboard bezels is already painted in a nice black color....shame about the artwork, but it doesn't belong on a Lunar Lander :)

1 set T-molding is also for the LL. The rest is for the Asteroids of course....

Pics tomorrow...

Well almost tomorrow....

But what is this ?? All kinds of weird Asteroids are printed on my new Lunar Lander bezel !!!

Let's correct that ASAP.....using a new color of my favorite spray: BBQ black ! (bought to try-out on coin-doors.....)
The test piece on the left looks very promising !

Looks shiny when wet, but it dried up VERY nicely without any shine at all. Exactly what I needed...

Let's do some T-molding.....this time it fits ! :) (Notice the mission light pcb in the coin door area....oops....)

Untitled by Level_42, on Flickr

T-molding done. Also installed Velcro to mount the cardboard bezel, I will need to replace the monitor still and I want to always be able to remove it without having to remove staples etc.

Will install the bezel tomorrow. And the glass.

What you don't see is I installed some foam band on the bottom marquee retainer. The problem was that when the thruttle was fully "open" the marquee started to rattle like nuts :) I think the same thing caused the screws of the mission light PCB to become loose.

I also need to fix the CP properly, it is only "hanging" on by two bolts right now so not Eurocade ready...

Also need to install some foam-band for the glass. I bought very special reflection-free glass for it. It's a bit on the thin side so I think I will transport it to Eurocade separately...

If I find some time i think I will do a "quick touch-up" of the coin-door....

Looks promising, but it does not matter if it won't be ready till Eurocade, we can also play on it in this condition. ;D

My good friend, if you take your lady to the ball, you don't want her to have worn out shoes and greasy hair right ?  ;D ;D ;D

I have had a struggle with the cardboard bezel. I think someone should repro these on plastic or something....

The two parts have to be put together of course. I first didn't want to use staples (like factory I believe) because of the look. So I tried to glue it with some various stuff, nothing was strong enough....so I went staples anyway. I believe there really is no alternative... during the process I made some stains and other bad looking things on the bezel so I gave it one final spray of BBQ Black Rustoleum (also to cover the staples) and I think it turned out REALLY nice.

I also put three staples through the Velcro on the cab edges because the back glue appeared not to really stick to the particle board. I put a full line of Velcro on the cap, and on the cardboad bezel only 3 small pieces of the "other side stuff" because I feared doing entire length would be close to impossible to remove again.

Also installed lots of foam tape where the CP hits the glass, where the glass is inserted on the top and near the bottom so the glass is as comfortable as possible.

Of course it started raining here again now so I had to pack up everything again....

this is looking nice, andré, although somewhat "brownish", but it might be just the photo. speaking of which, why do all your photos have that strange subtitle: Untitled by Level_42, on Flickr ?

at least give your pics a name, you can't call all of them "Untitled" :P

He did the final step  :(

If you play Lunar Lander on EC2012 do it in memory of good old Neil! What game could fit better.

André, this looks really great! What shame I cannot be there to play it next saturday.

I hope you did not paint original cardboards but repros
