She's not ready just yet ;)

Question related to this:

Would it be possible to print/have printed the ASTEROIDS bezel ai file from Zorg's vector lib and stick it from the back of a plexi ?
The biggest problem I see is cutting out the HUUUUGE center area but alternatively this could be printed on transparent sticky foil ?

This would be a good alternative to getting a used (scratched) one from the US.

Then I could have two plexi's cut at exactly the same size...

yes, its possible,

Just ask them to do it the way i have had the bezel printed for bela's galaxian or my zacc CP's

Its printed reverse on transparent adhesive vinyl, which is then after that covered by white vinyl

Then you got the "correct" print on the glue side.

then you ask them to slith / cut the window out with the CNC cutter.

or cut it out your self like bela did, only you cannot cut manual as precise as a CNC cutter..

I got one printed with adhesive on the printed side here a while back:

(page is in Frenglish but you get the idea)

Came out fine. Had to cut out the middle part with an xacto knife though.

Did some work today...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOQxfHPrU9c&feature=youtube_gdata_player

The usual vacuuming and cleaning inside with some spray cleaner to try to get rid of thedust and dirt. Of course cleaned the harness and Power Brick too. Checked the Big Blue on it and it's in great condition still.

Painted the freshly received bolts for the marquee retainers and installed them, looks great.

Yes I also cleaned up the area behind the marquee lighting as always. Dirt ends up there after 33 years...

Cleaned the sides and I'm really happy with them. Yes there are the usual little scuffs and dents but there is nothing really seriously wrong. Touhced up the really bad parts.....pretty basically but it will look fine in the gameroom.

I wanted to install new T-molding but it.turned out that the stuff I had on stock has a MUCH wider center part compared to the original and it simply doesn't fit in the current slot. I don't want to router them ( too risky) so I need stuff that is more Atari like I guess.....this is pretty weird as I think I DID use this stuff for the Centipede.....maybe it's a US can thing ? All my other Ataris are Irish....

Last night:

Son takes  a look at the Lunar Lander's side art and says : " Dad, if they could build space stations like that, they wouldn't need a primitive moon lander like that !"

I just couldn't reply for 5 seconds because he was of course completely right and also because I realized that that thought never even crossed my mind...... ;D

a bit later he (he's been watching André Kuipers launch and landing during his mission to ISS and we were at Space Expo): "even now we can't yet build space stations like that" which struck me again because the artist in 1979 probably thought we would have something like that by 2012 for sure......

Gotta love kids :)

I have sometimes the same experience that you describe here.

Its nice to see that they "see" the things in a way we have not seen them

I like that !

Cool you got it running !, that means that whatever progress you will make on this, it will be playable at Eurocade !  :spaceace:

I definitly won't be cutting it out myself....I'm too clumsy to get it even close to straight. Wild guess of what this would cost ?

Another question for you Etienne: you gave me the prints of the Asteroods bezel but I remember you mention something about the size ?

Yes, i cutted one part out, which was not correct.

the thing that went wrong there is that i should first pasted the sheets together before cutting

Anyway, not a big problem, just paste the rest together before cutting, and then you can add the last piece in there with a little extra paper  ;)

i have not made a overlap in the print (which i should and then there was no problem) so just paste the sheets together that the edges are touching eachother :

Ok, well actually I wanted to see if I could use these to "take them over" on a black piece of cardboard before any pasting but I guess you mean I have to "stitch" some pieces together. I'll take a look at the "puzzle" tonight  and see how far I get.

Or should I first complete this one just to check the sizes ? I guess I it's printed 1:1 it should be OK ?
