No worries, I've had the same (but smaller) pool for years, nothing happened apart from tiny holes...
So how is YOUR progress Michael ??

It was raining and cold today but I could work a bit on parts and stuff....
First do the basics: checked the Power Brick. To my surprise the blue plug (220V) was installed, kinda weird since it came from the UK where they used to have 240VAC. Since we are all at 230VAC now I changed it over to the brown wired plug.
Checked all fuses=> OK
Checked all voltages => OK
I removed the ARI board and checked all caps and transistors => OK (Power Transistor looks a bit rusted, but it works....will work on that later)

The fluorescent set-up. Looks like it still has the original starter...tube is from Osram Made in Germany so probably replaced at one point in time. It was very hard to clean it, it's OK. This was BEFORE cleaning:

Installed it and it works fine. => OK
Had a look at the CP because I had to glue one of the LED "Cone" switches.

24 pin plug.....yep that's correct for Lunar Lander harness...

"Carefully" modded to Asteroids....

If you saw the CPO, you know the cones were used as cigarette supports....sigh. EOL for them....still have enough on stock luckily....

Tested the LEDs => OK
While removing the CP board I had only one button to go and it slipped, in the process breaking off the "screw top" of this switch. We all know these are relatively valuable switches so I figured it was worth trying to glue it back...:

The G05-801 deflection board. Really a lot different from the -802. The two blue caps have been replaced in one point in time, they measure good, as does the old one on the right.
Did some firsts quick checking of transistors and diodes and they seem to be OK...

SO....I hooked everything back up. I wanted to see if I could get some life out of it....
I measured the voltages coming from the ARI => OK.
Hooked up the AD board again. Not OK. Board LED lights but so does the spot killer LED on the deflection board, which means no X-Y signal coming from the board.
So....I did a check on all the wires on the edge connector. Not that there was much reason but I thought better safe than sorry. It all looked OK apart from some extra hacked in GND connector (for testing ?) but it should work.
So I decided to put in the LL hacked to Asteroids PCB in. I got a loud buzz tone but nothing else. Not working either...
Now, I could have put in my 100% working Asteroids board but I figured what the heck and moved in the LL PCB I bought from Archer....
And this was the result:
http://youtu.be/3NE1SHl_oVoOK it looks "squashed" a bit horizontally but we have something running ! The picture is weird though...not sure if this is only the monitor or maybe something on the board. I'll have to put in the working Asteroids board to see what happens....but I'm already pretty happy
