You are right to keep the original playfield. The blue color on it is much nicer. I could not as the playfield literally cracked/burst open in several places as it must have been subject to rain or other humidity.
Question to you:
On your third jpeg I have problem telling something:
At the bottom of the playfield, there where the ball lands when you loose between the flippers, the metal "L" is covered by a piece of transparent plastic. One can see a little of it on your picture, and the rest is hidden by the control panel.
On your baby, is the plastic under the left and right black pac-man & ms pac-man plastics, or above?
On mine it was above, but it looks and feels strange to me, and most babies I found for documentation don't even have this plastic at all!
I would love to see close-ups when you get the time of how your left & right black plastics have been fitted, as I somehow have the feeling it was done wrong on mine after someone played around with it.
