Miracles can happen:Hyper Olympic
« on: February 22, 2011, 05:47:14 PM »
As most of you remeber, I've got a very nice Hyper Olympic from Ully last year.
I tried to turn it on then, the pcb was running, I've heard  the sounds, but the monitor didn't light up.
I took this week off from work to take care of my cabs and at last I had time to take a closer look in the machine.

I checked the fuses first, it seemed as they are all ok.I examined the cables and the connectors than and  I found a disconnected one, I put that back.
After more than half a year, I switched the machine on again, but everything was the same, sounds were there, but no screen.
As I didn't have any other idea to fix the monitor, I focused on the neon fluorescent tube, it also didn't light up.
After some investigations I realized, that this machine top side could be open, but you need  a special tool to unlock it.
I think it's something like this, but it didn't fit to that hole.

I tried to use a small screwdriver to hack this lock and after half an hour, I was succeed.
The screw/lock looks like this:

The cabinet itself looks really funny with that opened top side ;D

I have some spare tubes for my other cabs, but this one is shorter.

Hmmmmmm........Wait a minute, I have a similar TV Ideal cab, let's take a look inside for a tube.

I removed that tube from that cab and started to place it into the Hyper Olympic when the monitor glowed up suddenly! :o :o :o
It was the Hyper Sports pcb inside and I could see a very nice, clean and working screen. :o :o :o
I was extremly happy and I replaced the Hyper Sports pcb with the Hyper Olympic right away to see if it works.
Turned the machine on again, but after 5 minutes there was still nothing on the monitor.
It was very strange, because I tested that pcb earlier in my jamma cabinet and it was working.
These pcbs are in huge matal cages and mounted on a wooden plate, so I removed the cage on one side and looked inside

Fortunately it was just a disconnected edge connector. ;D

Fixed that and here is the result, woohooooooooooooo! ;D

It was time to play the game at last, but as the coindoor was removed from the cabinet, I was unable to put credits in it and I had no idea where this cables should be connected

Another run to the spare cab to check, but I realized that it is not completely the same as the Hyper Olympic.
Both machines have the similar credit board, but  a cable is missing from the HO..

And the other

Looks like you need to "short" the blue with black wires, or the red with black wires to credit

that are the colors that are connected to your coinswitches as i can see it in this pictures..

I tried to find that missing cable, but it is not there and the 2 machines also look a bit different from inside.
I found the source of that cable in the second machine, but that board is missing from mine.
Hyper Olympic:

Second machine:

I also tried to connect those cables directly to the coin door as it is in the second machine, but still don't accept credits.
Any help would be appreciated. ;)
I was also running down to the electric store for a new tube and it works great.(couldn't be seen in the pic) ;D

I didn't ask, but I guess if a monitor needs more than 10 minutes to light up, it's a capkit? :D
Isn't it?
