Another option is to buy SIL (Single In Line, in contrast to Dual In Line) strips of these sockets. You can break them at the desired length. By using two, you also have a "socket". Maybe not so neat, but works great and is very flexible (you never have the right socket at hands when you need it) :D

What do you mean "get them from rs", did you order yourself (can you ?) or are you asking us to order ? I'll be in Hilversum early december for work...

Sorry for the confusion, I'm really busy atm.

If you could get them that would be great.  ;D Otherwise i maybe could use my brothers chamber of comerce number.

Again, both of you, thanks for all the help!

Hey Gyruss, I haven't ordered anything so far.

I just happened to also found them on www.flipperwinkel.nl (never mind the name, he has lot's of interesting parts for videogames (or that can be used on videogames) as well !!!

Even the Big Blue will be available from him very shortly.

TONIGHT NO 19% VAT untill midnight because of "Sinterklaas" !!!

Do a search for CD40106 and you'll find them. The downside is shipping costs, but it's only mail envelope costs....not too bad.

Let me know if you still want me to order them from RS else if you prefer, but I'm not sure when you will have them if so....(Hope to be there dec. 20th of course).

And nothing changed! The problem remains, no up and down movement only slow left to right.  >:( >:(

We even switched the connectors on the little pcb's which measures the movement, still no up and down movement only left to right.

Any suggestions?

OK, I need a clear picture:

Etienne installed the sockets and the new chips right ?

And if you exchange the connectors on the opto-pcb's you STILL get the same on-screen movement ?

If that is so, I'd think the opto's would be good (since in one sitution one opto works, and after you exchange the other).

Did you try exchanging  the IC's ? They are socketed now anyway....
