The machine is yet again down for repairs. The left LaserDisc player is not cooperating at all. Hopefully they can get it fixed for longer this time.

They really should find a way to replace the LD players by something more reliable. I'm pretty sure Japanese Museum is using computer or Raspberry to emulate them.

I messaged Phil about the issue with the LD player and a possible solid state replacement. Here's what he had to say:

"We're in the process of trying to determine whether it's the LaserDisc player or the Video Mixer PCB that's failing. It's possible that the fault with the player wasn't fixed last week, as it takes several hours to manifest. If the player is at fault, we have a lead on a replacement but first it needs to be serviced and burn-in tested. The guys who have been doing the work are an hour away from the arcade and we're trying to minimise the number of trips they have to make.
Longer term, we are looking into a solid-state replacement for the LaserDisc players"

Yes, the shaking of the left image may be due to an issue with the V-MIX board. To be sure of that, they should inverse the LD players. After inverting the LD players, if the issue appears to the right of the screen, it's an issue with the LD player itself. If not, the V-MIX board has obviously an issue. They are a ton of capacitors on the VMIX board. a bad one could cause -after warming up a certain amount of time- such kind of visual issues (wombling picture)...

The machine was turned on today, but is still having audio/visual issues. I almost won in single player. Next week, I will almost certainly defeat the Zolgear, probably the first person to do so in 10 years.
