I have to subscribe too. I loved the Asteroids edition.

What I kinda miss: A section that features a collector...that would be cool.

There used to be a 2 page collectors section with an interview and photos (mainly consoles though). But later they shrinked it to only photos with a small comment which took only a half page anymore. Now they completely ditched the collectors section it seems...

And Atari 8-bit ! I LOVED Attack Of The Mutant Camels ! (Was much better on the Atari than on the C64,
please compare:

C64:

Atari 8-bit:

And Colour Space ("a light synthesizer" as it was subtitled). Only a guy like Jeff Minter could write a program like that :D

OH and of course the utterly brilliant Hover Bovver ! One of the few games that actually made you laugh out loud the first times you played...

Anyone want an After Burner Deluxe ?

There's also a Mad Dog McCree for all the laser-disc game lovers here (actually a LD game that I enjoyed playing when it was new in the arcades).

There's even a VR2000 for sale there, but I don't recommend it. I played it in London when it was new, and I couldn't get to grips with it. It sucks to play, but it's interesting from a historic point of view.

Of course, we all already know that from the 80's. He was all about sheep, lama's, camels, psychedelic colors (which was why he was great on the Atari), hippies and everything that comes with it...

In fact he's one of the few game developers I actually remember knowing from that period. He was in the magazines then already. Only a weird guy like he would come up with games like he developed. Weird, but brilliant.

David Crane is another name I remember, but I didn't know anything about him until reading some stuff on the internet.

Most of the developers/ programmers were just names (if already know at all) then.

Did you see the story that his fans gave him a Tempest cab (was it for his birthday ?). Pretty cool, he was really surprised.
He should program Tempest II for the original arcade hardware, see what he could lurk out of the hardware ! :D

I wonder if that's a real vector monitor in there, because the picture is so steady....usually vectors flicker on video....but maybe this is a better camera than I film with...

Yes read that story when it happened as im a regular member of the yakyak forums - where people are 'supposed' to talk about his games.
