Another Centipede Restoration
« on: November 08, 2009, 01:52:55 PM »
A couple of weeks ago Ronald Reagan got a PM from Level 42 if he was interested in a Centipede.
Of course he was and after transferring the money Level 42 was even so kind to deliver the cabinet to my house.

The cabinet is in really nice shape, after some cleaning this is what we got:

The sideart is in really nice condition:

So is the marque

The CPO has some damage, on the right the somebody wrote "geen sigaretten AUB" which means "no sigarettes please".

There is also some damage on the left sideart, should be easy to fix

A picture of the bezel

The coindoor could use some paint

The inside still needs lots of cleaning

The pcb, which is partly fixed by level 42 but still needs some more work (letters on the leftside of the screen)

Picture of the instruction sheet on the backdoor

.

This is it for now, we would like to thank Level 42 for this great cab and his helpfull tips and instructions

What did you use to clean the sidepanels. I tried water and a drop of dreft on a sponge, buy that didn't work too well, although I have to admit I didn't try it very hard.

I used a combination of Ajax cleaner and the stuff i use to do my dishes. There are still some yellow stains, that seems impossible to remove, but that's fine by me.

Great looking Centipede! :)
What about using "CIF" for cleaning? Worked really well on my candy cabinet. Didn't scratch at all, and removed a LOT of yellow stains, looking factory new. My candy is plastic, your Centi is wood so i am not sure if the result wood be the same, but i'd give it a try! :)
Try a little out-of-sight spot first ofcourse.

Good luck.

I think CIF should only be used for the white parts of the art. The coloured parts of the sideart could very easily be damaged by the sanding characteristics of CIF. Also never use bleach, you will end up whit a cab with no stains at all (which is good) and completely white (which is bad, very bad).
