The other Arcade at Laconia .....
« on: June 03, 2012, 04:17:09 AM »
....  which is located at

a boulevard at Lake Winnipesaukee, near Laconia

The name of the Arcade is

and it is actually a pretty entertaining place. It has all sorts of games, both really ´ancient´ (meant positively), classic and modern. It really is not bad at all and it has that American feel about it, also because of the place where it is located (Weirs Beach).

Here are some pictures

And on the other side of the road of Weirs Beach you will find one of the last remaining drive-in movie theaters in The States, which is still showing the latest movies

But this drive-in did have its best days decades ago. It now has completely decayed, which is a shame. I had expected to see something like in Grease, but this is how it was:

not a place to get romantic.  :(

The arcade looks like a nice place, the drive in is indeed a bit sad looking, but maybe in the dark with a bunch of cars watching the movie it is better looking than the empty parking place that it looks now ?

My apologies for bumping an old topic but after going through the photo's again I realized that the electrical arcade 'batting practise' that you photographed was featured in an episode of 'american restoration'. They restored that arcade to it's smallest detail. The story is that the arcade owner replaced the original wooden ball with a metal ball and didn't pay attention to the destruction that it caused :)
The epsiode is called 'american restoration S01E22 batter up'.

Oh, I missed that thread in June.

What a wonderful and lovely place, lots of classics and a great atmosphere...I wish I could visit in the evening :)

Mmmmm, the half moon is so-so IMHO....

Since Fun Spot is "around the corner" I didn't spend a dime in there...somehow the pics by Erik make it look better than I have it in my memory...

On the other side, it's an arcade, still operating today, amen !  ;D
