Game glitches
« on: September 08, 2012, 02:44:13 PM »
I was playing some Crazy kong at Eurocade and i think it was Leo (Laszo) that was standing next to me when i made a mistake and missed a elevator on the 3e stage and did not die..
I tried to recreate it in mame and see here what happens  :)

Ofcourse there are more known glitches in games, so post yours if you got any !

I also captured a fireball once between the rivets on the 4e stage of the DK Japan set:

Nice topic idea  :)

Here's one on Kung Fu Master :

Christophe 'PAG-MAN' showed me how to finish KUNG-FU MASTER, and also the 'ending' bug  :o  :P

Here's the last boss, at the floor 5 :

... killed  :)

   the trick is to jump at the last moment on the girl like this :

Now enjoy the end, with THE bug : the hearts are supposed to be around them

 ;D

About the CKONG one: I forgot about it, but I think we did it all the time BITD and was surprised that I died when I jumped there when I played DK on the A8....

Youtube actually linked to another CK glitch:

You can also do that same glitch by jumping left off the oil tank, although you have to be careful, because there's a spot on the top of the tank where you die if you touch it. There's another glitch on the Part 2 boardsets (probably the most common ones) on level 2+ conveyor belts. If you grab the bottom hammer when the belt is going right, and run all the way to the right side of the screen with it, Mario will drop the hammer. Sometimes it'll drop in the up position, sometimes in the down. If it's up, you can jump and grab it again. When it's dropped in the down position, it'll continue to smash fireballs and pies without you holding onto it. It'll disappear after a few seconds, but will continue to smash them if they touch where it was.

Some of these weren't necessarily repeatable, but:

I hit a glitch on my Taito Space Invaders: Part II upright once where I was on the far left side of the screen and fired a shot, and the shot or UFO or something must have wrapped around because it was destroyed on the right hand side, and I scored points for it, the remaining invaders quickly descended down the screen and my game was over (even though I had 2 lives left).  Very weird!

It occurred during a 2 player game and my friend was able to continue their game  ???!

I also had a glitch occur while playing NBA Jam: Tournament Edition where my player jumped, and the background continuously scrolled up vertically for a bit with the player still in the foreground, then finally slowed down and came back to normal.

I believe Crazy Climber can do weird things if you get to view one of the large objects (e.g. King Kong), then climb back down so they're out of view and climb back up again.  If I recall the large objects have the bottom and top halves inverted.

Some early versions of Galaga accidentally let you control the ship once it gets beamed up in the demo mode.  For some reason they used this version in the Class of '81 machines and you can cause it to crash/reboot by taking control and shooting enemies :D

My old Exidy Venture machine had an unreliable power supply and would be pretty fun to play when the voltage would drop.  It would cause holes to appear in the maze walls that you could walk through and wrap around to the other side.

Forgot this one:

Take the hammer on board 4 and wait until its expired.
You will see that the middle hammer dissapears from the screen, but its still there  ;)
