Looks like this

http://www.lichtwebshop.nl/product/2102/philips_deco_buisvormig_t29_cl_e27_230v_40w.aspx

only they are 220V, so thats a problem if you dont want to modify your lightfixture

Personally  I would definitely convert the marquee lighting to TL.

The incandescent lighting is very energy inefficient (50 watts compared to about 18 Watt), it has a very uneven light on the marquee AND gets pretty hot compared to TL.

For some weird reason (probably saving a couple of cents in production costs) Bally-Midway changed the lighting from TL fixture to those two stupid incandescent bulbs during the production of Galaxian (mine is early enough to have the TL) and I'm sure the same thing happened with Pac Man.

Luckily they changed back to TL during Ms. Pac and Galaga again (I bet the ops complained about it).

Just my opinion of course....

thx for your input, guys! even the guys on klov think that using those old bulbs is NOT the way to go, because they produce too much heat and burn / yellow the marquee. their advice is as follows: compact FL bulbs. i'll either use those or use a TL fixture as andré suggested. as we've discussed many times before, sometimes you have to leave the original route to improve ON the original :)

If you go with FL bulbs you'll have to change the wiring because now they will get only 120V. You'll have to move the wires to a point where you still have 230V. That is, unless you buy 120V bulbs somewhere of course...

hmm, someone from klov wrote the following:

The voltage is tapped straight from the input voltage.....so, if you're sending 240V into the game.....the marquee bulbs are receiving the same juice. Do not use 120V USA bulbs....you'll have some serious heat, before they pop.

would be easiest to simply measure the voltages coming out at the bulbs just to make sure!
