Let's start a nice thread about machines that you "just" discovered but never knew they existed.

Mind you, I don't mean Pac Man....I mean really rare machines, weird one's or strange because of other reasons, but mostly because you have simply never seen it before AND it's not a common machine.

Here's the first: Atari F-1 (Namco license)

Mmm, this is what Wikipedia says about it:
F-1 is based on electromechanical (em) projection technology. The race track is a pre-rendered animation stored on film and projected on the screen. The player's opponents and the player themselves are static transparent pieces within the machine that are also projected on the screen. Steering and collision are done through direct mechanical control.
This game is the first and only projection game released by Atari. It also was the first game licensed from Namco by Atari, a practice that would increase by the early 80's.


I can't find this game on KLOV and not even on the Flyer archive, although there is one right here:

That 2nd one is not "real" though

I remember that my mother brought home a huge printing like this. There was a "computer" installed at her work (and she was scared of it, still is today )
We were totally flabbergasted at how they did it in those days !!!

That Atari cab reminds me of that advertising campaign in Germany posted here. Probably there was a guy typing the pictures
