Hi John,
Cool to have you here :)
I have a working Super Breakout too (love it!!!) and I think I have the same problem #2 problem as you.
I'll check better this weekend and let you know if I can be of any help.

I have a voltage regulator that I am about to install. I hope it fixes the issue!

hi john. i'm glad another super breakout is coming back from the darkness :)

probably is not necessary to install a voltage regulator.
with years some calibrations have gone. if you recap the monitor and work on trimmers and coils you can align again the game with the overlays...
I sent A LOT of time on that monitor

regards,
Marco

The problem I am having is this:

#1 - The B+ voltage is high and will not adjust lower. The game also has a wave across it. I think this moving wave is B+ related?

#2 - I cannot adjust the screen to match the overlay.

The monitor has already been capped.

The monitor is a 19V1000 or 19v1001

Will this only work with certain CPUs? Like all Z80 games or something? Daughter card with wi-fi that plugs into the Z-80!? How you doing this?!?!? :) How does it connect to the internet. Am I gonna have to run Ethernet to all my games?!?!?

What a great game! I can't believe it works. I just love classics like these. Great artwork too.

We had an idea over here and I wanted to ask you guys what you think about it.

A few weeks back Bruno asked the Board about the high score-tables for game rooms. I sat down with my buddy Jochen Hippel (told him to get an account here but he still did not manage to do so :D ) and we came up with another idea. We think it is quite a cool one but we want to know what you guys think before we are starting with the production of a prototype.

So... this is what we have in mind: We would like to produce a save kit that is not only able to save highscores on your machine but also send this score to a website that saves and compares the scores. You would have a highscore table that compares your scores with your friends and with virtually everybody who owns such a kit. On the net it is not limited to 3 or 5 scores. It would keep track of every score that comes in. A hughe table that you could access from anywhere via browser.

The cool thing is that you can plug your cab in your router.. and the save kit sends your scores to the table... with the dip switch setting in mind!

This would work with pretty much every 8bit-game... but since I am a big big fan of Galaga 88 I asked Jochen to think about a save kit for those machines as well and he came up with an idea for these games, too.

What do you think? Would you use something like that? After all it only makes sense if we can build up a little community that likes to share scores and compete against each other.

Would love to get feedback from you guys.

Greetings!
Stefan

I love this idea SOOOO much and had a similar idea in my head for a long time. I always dreamed of their being a kind of XBOX LIVE leader board for arcade games. The closest I have seen was the Revenge From Mars online leader boards.

Figured I would post this on this site. Maybe Thomas can get it if someone wants it. :D

I need room and spending money/ticket money for Disney. Pains me to sell this but I gotta and I am leaving soon.

Nice restored Missile Command. New glass bezel from this old game. I replaced the original control panel with a nicer original. I replaced the PCB with a working one and added the Missile Attack/high-score save board. I capped the monitor. I rebuilt the AR-2. I repainted the black, looks good! I replaced the t-molding (pretty sure I did!). Nice original side art. New leg levellers. I also rebuilt and replaced all the parts in the trackball including a new ball, rollers, bearings, etc. I fixed everything that was wrong with the game.

The bad:

The monitor looks good. However, the picture shakes when loud explosions happen in the game. You also can see some pincushioning when it goes to the non-black background levels. It's a minor annoyance that I have lived with.

Very reliable and clean game. Nice looking too!

US$750.00

Here's a video of my game in action:

Rich is a great and very honest guy but he sometimes is extremely slow to respond or ship. It's just the way it is. I would try to keep contacting him. He will eventually help you.

I picked up a Super Breakout that is working but has some monitor issues. I think it's an XM-501 monitor.

Issues are:

#1 - The screen has a wave to it. It's a moving wave across the screen. I hear it might be the B+ that is adjusted too high on this particular monitor. Previous owner could not adjust it down from 86V. Heard it could be the big silver cap on the monitor. Monitor has already been capped.

#2 - The picture does not line-up with overlay. It just won't line-up at all. Picture is also a little too narrow.

Pretty cool game!

It's funny how spot-on those bootlegs are! I had a Gyruss bootleg and you could NOT tell the difference. They were pretty crafty back then!
