I hooked it up to my Gauntlet, and this is what i get..
after 5 sec. the picture is faded away..??? - error on the PCB?
note! - none of the controls are hooked up, so for the coin mechs...
NOTE - i have 2 Gauntlet PCBs, and they produce the same error (Picture)
-
I had the SAME issue with MY Gauntlet, I forgot the fix. Let me try and think about it.
-
please remember!!! ;) ;D ;D
-
bonk... dexter.. ;)
-
Looks like a ram error? ???
-
Could be all kinds of things, from a dodgy custom chip (Gauntlet has a few) to dodgy program ROMs.
I guess that the voltages to the board are okay?
Curious that you have two faulty boards - didn't you say that you bought them both as workers?
-
exactly, both of them was bought as "working" - and the same error is on both of them...
maby when i have some time tomorrow, ill check it all again... and - the AUX pcb is powered by 12VAC...! ;)
-
Okay, but what voltages are you getting at the game board itself?
-
+5VDC - and from the AUX pcb, -15VDC and +15VDC... (but i will check those tomorrow, and see if the voltage is right.)
-
Okay, do double check what you're getting at the game board.
-
hmm, rather embarrising... seems like i have no 12VAC!!!
well, can i use a spotlght transformer for that?
240V to 12V AC Ultra Slim Electronic Transformer 60VA
(http://www.jellydeal.co.uk/prod_store/zoom/HALOLITE-240v-to-12v-ac-ultra-slim-electronic-transformer-60va.jpg)
-
I guess that would work but I'm no expert on power supplies, I stick to the game boards. )
-
just tried a spot transformer, and it seems like it´s "working"...
the game tries to boot up, and theres a bump in the speaker, thes repeat every 1½....
maby there´´s not enough punch in the transformer....
-
And that's the same on both boards?
How do you have this transformer wired up alongside the existing one?
-
no, i have only tried one board..
It´s wired up separetly..
i go and test the other board..
--EDIT--
Just tested the other board with same result....
here´s the setup.... ahremm.. ;D

-
Okay, but are they sharing the same ground?
Note: I know bugger all about PSUs, so take any advice that I offer with a few seas of salt!
-
i think they are, the only ground from the AUX is wired to the Main PCB. coin mechs and audio...:
-
Okay, but might be worth checking on jammaplus as there are people on there who know far more about PSUs than me.
Have you tried the other board yet?
-
yes i have, and with the same result...
-
And all the voltages are now present, correct and reading as they should?
-
actually no, i don´t like it when it´s clicking like that (booting..?), i had only power on for 5 seconds or so...
what i need is a good transformer 240VAC to 12VAC, so, anyone??
-
Re the transformer - someone in the tech area in jammaplus is bound to know.
Sounds like both boards are watchdogging (resetting) as the code isn't being run correctly, which is either down to bad voltages or board problems. You could try reseating the program EPROMs.
-
ok, ill try to do that tomorrow...
but damn that one is a tough one to dance with!
-
You're dancing with it?
There's your problem then. ;)
-
Muerto : where are you with your Gauntlet pcb ?
By the way, I saw, as a KLOV user, that you are looking for a Gauntlet II pcb too ;).
As I wrote to you on J+, I've got that pcb (fully functional) : if you need anything to know, I can perhaps help you.
-
regarding the Gauntlet, i need to install the power for +12vAC (wich i have) but work is over my head atm (even in weekends)
-
Finally due to the weather, i got some time to work on my Gauntlet...
I installed the power for +12VAC, got an old monitor setup, did a little wireing.......
and there was picture...!!!!!
The PCB started up in Setup mode (i did´nt connect coin and P1/P2/P3/P4)
though for operating the setup i just put P1 on, and used the "start" wire to hid GND on the PCB
for switching modes in setup...
Hello World:

but as you can see, the picture is not centered! - and after using 5 min or so to trying
to get it centered i gave up :( - what can be the problem?
The monitor i used for this is _NOT_ the same that was in the cab! (but can that make a difference)
