Title: Got a Xevious cab
Post by: flip971 on August 09, 2009, 07:36:00 PM
I find and buy a Xevious cab in My city for a reasonable price.

Not in a perfect condition and not in a worst condition (apparently!!).
Need to remove some rust like on the coin door, a new joystick, a new control panel and a new marquee, where I can get some?

Wooah! Namco's Xevious  :o One of the best 'shooter' ever made! Congratulation  :)
It's one the games I'm playing the most, with Galaxian & Pac Man.
I got three weeks ago a PS3... and the first game I got was... Xevious Ressurection  ::) :P But of course, nothing can beat the original Xevious  ;)

You shouldn't change the side arts, they are not so damaged... let's prefere the orginal way  ;)
The CPO is available in many US online shops. Try also to catch a Wico's Red Ball leaf joystick (I got them on ebay US).
Do you have the original board, what about the monitor, ... please more info on this beauty  :P
Maybe you can have a look at my Xevious post right here (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=63.0).
Oh, and ... what a nice price for a such game, you're lucky  ;)

I'm jealous regarding the bezel... it looks more clean than mine, and there's still no Xevious bezel reproduction available as far as I know...

XEVIOUS :-* :-* :-*

nice score! how did you find that game "in your city"?

Hi DarthNuno  ;) ;) ;) ;)

I remember Your Xevious post  ;D

On the cab I find the original board, but need some check: sometime the board reset itselfs.

(http://www.uptiki.com/images/9g987svhn4k1enph4yk_thumb.jpg) (http://www.uptiki.com/viewer.php?file=9g987svhn4k1enph4yk.jpg)

(http://www.uptiki.com/images/3ruwhi45fflvau327t8_thumb.jpg) (http://www.uptiki.com/viewer.php?file=3ruwhi45fflvau327t8.jpg)

I have find inside the cab, the manual

(http://www.uptiki.com/images/daad9mkdtxkg14o3fg6_thumb.jpg) (http://www.uptiki.com/viewer.php?file=daad9mkdtxkg14o3fg6.jpg)

(http://www.uptiki.com/images/kesr47dtpf56xcrt1qg_thumb.jpg) (http://www.uptiki.com/viewer.php?file=kesr47dtpf56xcrt1qg.jpg)

I notice in the manual, is missing pages 1-3/1-4 and 3-43/3-44; any one have a copy of them?

I think it's necessary change the monitor.
It's visible, on monitor powered off, the Xevious logo.
A friend of mine suggesto to use a lcd monitor, but I try to find a 19" crt.
For the joystick, I need a 8 way?

I left a link with the set of a photo that I have done: http://www.uptiki.com/users.php?act=gallery&gal=248 (http://www.uptiki.com/users.php?act=gallery&gal=248)

On the cab I find the original board, but need some check: sometime the board reset itselfs.

It often happens where the voltage is too low (I got that problem on my After Burner II)... check & try to increase the voltage : a strong 12 and 5V, or change the power supply.

I think it's necessary change the monitor.
It's visible, on monitor powered off, the Xevious logo.
A friend of mine suggesto to use a lcd monitor, but I try to find a 19" crt.
As always, I would say... a brand new CRT TV, and the hand made PCB -> SCART adapter, for an arcade accurate picture  :-* 8)

For the joystick, I need a 8 way?

Yes, the same than the ones on most of Atari panel ... Red Ball... and leaf contact.

DarthNuno: In the next days I'll finally got the cab and bring it to a place where I try to restore.  :D :D :D

These boards are for sale very often on ebay.com (there is one right here (http://cgi.ebay.com/Namco-Classics-1-with-Galaga-original-board-not-working_W0QQitemZ260393388639QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ca0a7ca5f&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116#ht_974wt_1167)... but NOT working ).
The usual price for that board is between $100 and $180 for information.
