Been to two arcades last weekend:
- Sportland, Blankenberge, Belgium
- Carousel, Vlissingen, The Netherlands
The fist one is HUUUUUUUUGE....amazing size for today, even for BITD !
LOADS of racers, modern shooters and of course redemption games.
Thought this might be the arcade where a certain someone picked up a certain Galaxian game ? ;)
Didn't do a full report but I have some pics/video of the more interesting things I saw..
Sportland:
Played a 3 player game Pac Battle Royale....lots of fun actually !

Guess what videogame a 13 year old boy would want to play first in the year 2015........

Guys, in 25 years, we will have to raise the roofs of our gamerrooms insanely:
The combination of video game and redemption seems to be the only way to keep videogames alive.
This one looked interesting but we didn't play it. The most interesting for me was that before the LCD screen there is a plastic which has all the bowls for the fish formed in 3D. This acts like a lens, which gives a pretty cool effect when the fish is in the bowl.....can't grab it on picture.....

Did play this one...it's actually a lot easier than the iOS version (still have it :)! )
Amazingly I also beat Mark both times we played. He has the high score on the iPad and I can't even get close.....at 24 :)

This was maybe the most fun to find....I didn't know about it !
A remake of Sea Wolf.....yes another redemption game but O well......
Pretty fun to play, but of course doesn't come close to the original video game version.

Next was Carousel. First I thought it was turned into a gambling-only place but luckily this wasn't the case. Actually, they had 5 pinballs !!
Not as large as Sportland, but still a very nice arcade for today.
The one machine I wanted to find there was this one....I played it there before and wanted to know the name etc.
Turns out it is Hammer 2 by a Korean company called Andamiro, which I have never heard of before :)
The game is like a cocktail table with a large LCD laying flat. There are two hamers on each side and you can compete in various fun "mini game".
It's a bit like Bishi Bashi married with Whack-a-mole :)
Lot of fun, I wouldn't mind having one of these at Eurocade :)

That is the other categorie of games that seem to "survive" that is the iOS/Android style games that became so popular that an arcade version is made, like Ninja Fruit, Doodle Jump and Temple Run.
This one was spotted by my son, I didn't know the game but he said it was also from an app:
It still annoys me to pieces that the best iOS game ever (http://badlandgame.com) hasn't gotten this arcade conversion yet. It would only need a single button as control and STILL be an amazing arcade machine !
