Title: Head on resto
Post by: vernimark on July 01, 2014, 04:08:18 AM
Yep. Gyruss is not finished yet and I'm starting with a new resto. That's because Gyruss CPO is somewhere between US and Italy and in the meantime I'm using my last days of freedom...
nevertheless I sold my CRASH (bootleg) so I need to replace the empty place.

I have some questions for you.

1) Do you have any suggestion how to remove the instruction sticker from the cardboard?
2) Do you have any idea how to remove the marquee???? no screws or parts to remove at all!!
3) do you know if any graphics exists? CPO, Side art... I couldn't find anything...

Here some pics...

I'm preparing vector files for CPO and side arts with the help of some guys from ARCADEITALIA forum. I'll post here results asap.

But I need your help. I found this part of GREMLIN label. I can see the label is the same posted here
https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=3545.0

Do you have any idea where "Model No" can be found? Is there a list somewhere? Do you have a Head On and can you tell me which Model No. has?

thanks  :P  ;D

I made them based on the pic ully provided, and i did draw the "stamps"  also there.

I guess i can remove those ?  or do you want them on there once you order ?

Head On will be ready to be used to my party but probably without any art work.

I removed CPO and sidearts and a friend of mine has helping me to vectorize the files.

I removed the sticker from the cardboard...

Once I cleaned it I saw the CP had a lot of rust under the overlay so I decided to remove it

Head On died after my party on july. I repaired it but it is still without artwork and the joystick had some problems.

First of all I replaced the rubber inside the joystick thinking that in this way it could become more usable.

Love it - very nice on the joystick there  :spaceace:

...but I had no feeling with that joystick. little sensitivity, little precision... too bad.

so I decided to replace it with a modern joystick using the original stick. Obviously the original parts will be saved in the cabinet :D

So as result now I have a very performer joystick aesthetically identical to the original.

some of you could be skeptical about these kind of solutions, but in front of a good game with bad controls I prefer to improve the playability decreasing the orthodoxy

Ok, I have new side arts and new CPO!
Side arts are perfect but the guy printed them from the spinnhacker files (thank you!!) hadn't the right material to make a good CPO.
Do you need someone can print the CPO? I need a vinyl like tempest CPO

as I told you before, CPO is glossy and I'm looking for someone who can print it on a more similar to the original overlay, till that day I'll leave this (anyway) beautiful repro... :D

thank you again spinnaker for vectorizing them, thanks to morra76 (by arcadeitalia) for printing.
