After a 1200km roadtrip we finally installed it in the basement. Boy this cab is a heavy beast. :D

The machine works fine but it needs some serious cleaning. I know that some of you have done this before. Could you give me some advice what to use to reduce the smell of smoke... and to bring back that shiny look of the chrome parts? I appreciate every posting.

scud is amazing. one of my fav sega racers of all time. played it for the first time in orlando.

Ok... here is a really short "Scud Race Roadtrip" for you guys.
We startet last saturday, 26.01.2013 at half past 6 in the morning. I woke the guys up. The one to the right is Chris, the guy to the left is somebody some of you might know. It is Jochen Hippel, the former Atari-musician who worked for Thalion on ST and Amiga.

Jochen seems happy. I told him that the cab was heavy... so the impression on his face changed a few hours later.

The Scud Race was located downstars in a bar. The new owner kept it from the previous because he thought it was to heavy to carry it all the way upstairs. Thank god the guys did a good job preparing the cab for us to load it in the Avis truck.

Puh... arrived at my shop and brought everything downstars. Putting everything back together was easy and somehow relaxing.

Everything is in a good shape. The decals look good to okay to me. only some minor scratches. The cab of course needs some serious cleaning. The smell of the bar is still there, too.

Yeah.. besides his back-problems after lifting the scud up.. he is doing fine. :)

nah... unfortunatley it has to stay private because of the laws over here.
my shop has no age restrictions. if i would let people play the cabs i would be forced to only let adults in. this would not be a good idea. :)
so every cab goes down IN THE BASEMENT. but whenever some of you guys wanna come for a visit just feel free to jump in!

cheers mate. cleaning time this weekend! talked to the guys at sega amusement in the uk this morning.
unfortunately there are no stickers available any longer for the scud.
do you guys have an idea where to find the Scud Race-decals for the seats? everything is fine except some of the letters.
i found pretty much everything for the seat... but not the Scud Race-logos.

hehe.. funny that you are linking this picture cause we met again on the day this pic was taken. i knew jochen from our time at thalion around 1989, 90 and 91 when all the european demo-guys met there and teamed up to produce games and demos. we lost contact for a few years but met there again at the st news-party. since then we are close friends and we even work together nowadays. lately I just infected him with the arcade-virus.

Mad Max was my ultimate music author in the late 80's and in the 90's !
At that time I was an Atari ST demo maker and great fan of his chip tunes.
I hope to get the chance to shake hands with him one day....
