Hello, It's been a while since Ive been here. Here's my problem, i brought a SNES two weeks ago and whenever I play a game now, i get a black screen. However, a Super Game Boy gives me garbled characters. Any suggestions?

You need an SNES cleaning kit. Cheap and readily available..
Clean the game carts with it too.
Easy Fix.... Already had this problem too, and resolved.

No offense but we're mainly focussed on arcade games here....aren't there forums/websites more focussed on classic consoles who can help better ?
I also see SNES consoles offered on f.i. Marktplaats for about 30 Euro. Not much use investing a lot of time to fix one....

It's not that we don't want to help....we probably all have no or little experience fixing these.....
