Title: Atari joystick to USB adapter
Post by: level42 on November 14, 2012, 06:43:45 PM
Just ordered one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170838656166?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_3302wt_1185

Nice to be able to hook up the best home joystick ever (my trusty all-leaf Suzo competition pro) to my Mac to play an occasional game under Atari 8-bit emulation. It is supposed to be completely driverless and should appear as a regular joystick controller so I hope it will work under OS X. I also hope it works under MAME.

Cool that you can hook up two sticks. Paddles don't work though but since the vast majority are joystick games and seeing the price of similar devices that do support paddles, I thought I can live without them....

Will report how it works when it gets here.

These kind of things are great.

Ever considered playing on the real thing again? You can put the game roms on a SD cart using a special cartridge  :)

If you mean the 2600.......still at my parents' attic.....

If you mean Atari 8 bit stuff, I do every now and then. I lack the space to set up my 800(PAL), 130XE and/or XEGS systems permenantly...or maybe I should say my space has other priorities....for now....
Some time ago I had it setup and my son totally LOVED Star Raiders.

However, it is nice to be able to run emulation for some games now and then, even if only to see what an unknown game is like in MAME f.i. and at this price it's very simple to hook up my trusty 28 year old Suzo.

Received it today, got my beloved Suzo and pluggend it into my iMac beloved Windows PC and................it works GREAT ! :):)

That is, it works fine in MAME right away without any configuration, I really like that.

The adapter shows itself like an analogue game pad on the system.

With Atari800 (emulator) I have some more problems to get it to run. It does give some responses but not what it should be, apparantly the emulator is to "blame". I've been fiddling with the settings without much result....however, since it works in MAME it should work on about anything that uses Gamepad input....

very nice for the price !!!!
