;D Muerto is happy that Etienne is on his team ;D ;D

Congrats to the Danish ! Even though we had a gazillion of chances, we lost against the Danes who had one (1) serious shot on goal and it was the winner.
Man, this is just strategy, the other opponents in this group ( who didn't impress all too much either tonight) will think we're easy target....we just practiced...
Seriously, our defense is weak, the midfield players seemed to hide when the defense wanted to forward the play, only when the attack had the ball there was danger for the Danes.
O well, now they know what they have to do.....beat the Germans AND the Portugese.... Would love to see Denmark and us move to the next round ;););)

It is FOOTBALL not soccer...stupid American word for FOOTBALL because they have a game called football which is played 98% with the HANDS ;D

Actually its "Association football"...
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a sport played between two teams of eleven players with a spherical ball.

Still dont give a #$&^ about it ;D :D
-
Seriously, i don´t care to much, i did´nt see the game, as i was working (!) but the Danes was very lucky yesterday, so i only osed the brag right for once... ;)

Still don't give a shit about Wikipedia writers.
Who comes up with this nonsense. What we play now is Football for 5.85 of the 6 billion citizens of the earth. We don't give a shit about white Americans and Aussies' thoughts (black and cream Americans use Football as well for Football).
-
indeed, this shows the weak spot of Wilipedia.
Here is another funny one:
Football refers to any of several similar team sports of similar origins that involve advancing a ball into a goal area in an attempt to score. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_(disambiguation) )
Mmmmmmm, now what is missing in that definition....yup by FOOT.
-
The funny thing is that the name "soccer" originates from England, so whoever blames the Americans for that term is wrong. Also, there are quite a few types of football, most originating from England as well - like rugby football (yes, that actually is the official name) and Gaelic football.
And (IMHO) the usual claim that only association football lives up to the name is nonsense too, because players quite often use their heads as well (so therefore it should be called foot- and headball really :)).
But lets put the etymology aside before we move too far from the subject ;D

LOL !
Shame you didn't catch the hands play and not given penalty ;)

Looking forward tonight's great battle between the dutch and the german guys, my prediction is 2-2. :D

hmmm maybe i was in the kitchen at the time ;) *whistles*
-
hmmm.....to be honest, I hadn't expected that.....let's see what the 2nd half brings
-
I think we Dutch are going after the Red Devils....
I don't bother.
Van Marwijk should have looked at the arms to know who to put in the field. Tattoos=on the couch. Come on, these players have become walking Tattoo Bob commercials since WC 2010...
But we won as well.
We are all Germans after all.

Every country has a few players like that, it´s not just The Netherlands. Apparently those full tattooed sleeves are quite popular amongst football players these days...
(not that that's a bad thing, I'm not inkless myself either :) )
But I think Germany is the deserved winner of this match. The Netherlands only played well in the 5 minutes after the goal from Van Persie. They used to play like that for 90 minutes each game on the last World Cup, but somewhere on the way to today they've lost their groove I guess...
-
Yep congrats to the Germans, a deserved victory, and to me it seemed they didn't need to invest much energy for it. Just like against the Danish the Dutch looked totally numb. Ball circulation speed was too slow, and just as I predicted the defense made a couple of hue mistakes which led to both German goals and a couple mo chances.
There is something seriously wrong with their mentality that is clear enough and Van Markwijk should have started with both Huntelaar and Van Persie. Van Persie scored a brilliant goal by the way.
O well.....what's the calculations? If the Germans fulfill their duties and win against the Danes and we beat Portugal we still go on ? As a matter of fact I'd rather see them leave the EC. If the mentality is like this, they do not belong there....
I am convinced that the Dutch team as they were in 2010 would have beaten this German team but something is seriously gone kaputt....
-
Watching this game in a Manhattan bar was such a waste of time. I only saw one great team and on the opposite site 11 average individuals.
We will never beat Portugal, it's time to go home. The Germans play great though, I hope that they win.
-
I had expected the match to be more like the time after Van Persie's goal. We (our team) lost power and concentration in the 2nd half and I thought that the dutch would beat us in the remaining time...but they didn't. It was very uneffective and the dutch goal was a "one man show".
But hey, it's not impossible to beat Portugal. Danish Dynamite exploded two times after they had two goals against them. So why not win 3:1 against Portugal. OK, we have to win against Danmark, but I think we will make it. Did you see the nice scene at the end of the match when Schweinsteiger and Van Bommel stood together? I'm sure that Schweini told him to beat Portugal and that the Germans will beat Denmark ;)
-
Luckily the Germans have to start for win... If they are beaten by Denmark with a difference of 2, and Portugal beats the Netherlands with 2 difference, we could get the really strange result that the Germans go home. I guess I'm going to bet 1 euro on that chance, and If I am lucky, I can buy a car afterwards.

In this case I would really need something "more effective" than beer ;)

I think the Dutch team has a motivation problem. I mean, look at how they played around the 60th minute. They were basically standing in their own half and did not even try to attack the Germans. Even Hummels nearly shot a goal by simply moving forward from the middle line directly to the goal. When the Dutch people scored, the game got interesting. I also would have expected more from the game. Let's see how this continues. IMHO the Germans have no chance against Spain for example. There was nothing to see from the nice football that we saw in the WM from the German team.

i totally disagree! i think the german team played quite well and they will get even better as the tournament continues. watch out, we are going to win this!!! :spaceace:

I was really surprised by your trainer. Is he a former porn actor? He looks really "slick", with 1/3rd Asian and 1/3rd Italian. A bit like the creep they are after in the Charlies Angels movie.

haha.....I don't think he looks like a former whatever actor but "slick" is a good word. My wife likes him very much because of his black hair and the fact that he is always dressed like a model :P
At least he seems to do a great job. I was afraid a little bit when he stepped in front from behind Jürgen Klinsmann but he has proven to be a good trainer.
Go on Jogi!! :)

The German played OK, but not brilliant. As I said, the Dutch team of 2 years ago would have won. However, the Germans didn't HAVE to play very well at all, they were helped by the Dutch. At the second goal I feared they would easily make it to 4 or 5, but it felt to me like the Germans pittied the Dutch and put on the hand-break. Also smart to not waste too much energy, the tournament will be long.
Well, let's agree that we will meet again in the final ;D Oh, and for once I will be totally supporting Die Manschaft against the Danes, sorry Michael ;);)

Don't worry, I don't think the Danes will win against ze germanz... And it'z only foozhall....
-
Thank God there are no "Continues" in football.
-
Where the Dutch team that bad?? - i think the Danes did ok tonite, thougt they didnt win.... Oh, and we didnt get the penalty!!
-
Loosing three matches in a row on a EC ? Yes that is REALLY bad for a World Cup finalist.....
Well we had two moments of cheering today.....
I fear there will be a pretty dark period for the Dutch national team coming up....we need to breed some defenders.
-
I saw only the first 10 minutes of the first match, and it seems I did not miss much ;D
-
Whatching ENG vs. URK, UEFA, this is a scandal!!!! Where is that goal cam??!!!!!!!
UKR just scored, but it wasent recognized by the judge and goal judge!!!!! EPIC FAIL!!!!!
-
Meeehhh, yesterday Spain scored a goal with hands and off side in one go.....
We didn't get a penalty against the Danes (not that we deservd to stay in the tournament.....)

It's time those old bastards that controls EUFA/FIFA stands down, and let younger people take over, who can see the oppotunity in new tecnoligy - which is all ready here!

They've got millions of cameras in each stadium so why not use them? Would only take seconds for the 4th referee to look at the pictures and say "It was a goal!"
Remember two years ago when a goal for UK was not given in a match against Germany? The ball obviously was behind the line when it came down from the cross bar. The referee on the field can not see everything but there are how many running (or better: standing) around to help him? Why not use the new technology??? They didn't have it when "Wembley" happened, but they have it now....USE IT!
:-\
-
Nonono, there wasent goal!
Heres the evidence:

I'm not a big football fan, but England's performance tonight was a huge shame.
They totally killed the game with their usual silly defensive play, which is ok at the preimer league, but this is Euro 2012!!!
They deserved to go home.
-
100% correct !!!
Now....if we could have the defense of England then we might have à change next time ;)
-
Totally agree! - the Italians totally deserved that win! - and another thing, heard today on BBC Radio 2 that a group of celebrating Italians was ambushed by English hooligans.... tsk tsk, grow up!!! - but again, i´m not surprised, my girlfriend and I was watching the game at a local pub, but decided to go home and watch the 2nd half because of the negative atmosphere there was all ready there....
-
FORZA!!! (2-0 goals so far vs Germany) :-* :-* :-*
-
Well deserved......can someone reanimate Superully ? ;D

Super Mario !!

:D just returned from the public viewing! i was afraid that the game would play out the way it did eventually: the germans were too confident going into this and therefore somewhat paralysed. add two indidivual mistakes in the defense and this is what you get. it's a shame, our team had so much potential, but we'll be back in 2014!!!
of course now it's fingers crossed for espania: go spain!!! :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:
-
Spain ? Yugh. I am for Italy. Not just because of 2 years ago, but Spain still hasn't half of the attacking intentions of Italy. They just drove the "keep the ball in possession" style TOO far....it's 100% boring to watch. I wished that this had been the final because Portugal-Spain was about the worst game of the tournament IMHO and they should both have left....Spain had TWO strikes on target during that game....TWO hole strikes in 120 minutes of football....
Italy is amazingly fresh for me this tournament.
Gone is the ever defensive/awaiting play that used to dominate the Italian team. Pirlo is a brilliant player for sure and Super Mario, crazy as he may be...did it....
I never liked the Italian style of play (I clearly remember Euro 2000 in Rotterdam........) but that has really changed this tournament.....
-
Well, it seems that our team still misses something when they play against teams like Spain or Italy. We're not in the position to win a cup, yet.
I'm a big fan of Balotelli. He's such a great player and he's only 21. Pirlo also played a great game.
Btw....they should rename Diamanti in "Lump of Coal".....how many chances did he have to make the 3:0 in the last 10-15 minutes?? Stopped counting....
Oh no, not Spain again.......FORZA ITALIA !! :)
-
Go Italy. Spanish are becoming bored of celebrating cups. And they have more hair on their tits, so I vote for Italian ladies jumping into fountains on sunday.
-
We will be in New York on Sunday.....we might go to Little Italy and see if there's a TV showing the match :)

Then you will have a great time, we were in Little Italy a few weeks ago, very nice. Don't forget to visit China Town also, which is attched to little Italy. In fact, Little Italy is getting smaller and smaller because of the Chinese take over. You will see. But there are still plenty Italian restaurants to choose from.
-
it will be an interesting final. I support Spain, because they play so well. If you have seen how they, at 0-0 against Portugal, in the last 5 minutes of the game, keep their calm and defend their way out of an attack of Portugal. Never seen before, so many good players.
Italy has a chance though, although I think their luck/energy/heart/surprise/moment/bravoure or whatever you wanna call it, has ended with eliminating Germany. Spain is something different, although their first match, which ended in 1-1, was an interesting match, where Italy had a lot of chances but Spain played the better football.
-
Spain played the better football.
But in the end, it never is about pretty/better football
-
Hope thet Italy wins, 6-5: 2-2 after 120 minutes, and penalty shootout 4-3!
