Title: FS: Missile Storm
Post by: bloodflowers on June 05, 2012, 02:43:02 PM
Selling my spare Missile Storm now, it's the older art type (smaller logo, silver coin door, different bezel).  This one and the one I'm keeping (later art type) are the only two currently known to still exist so it's quite a rarity.  Game is a bootleg of Missile Command.

Side art is very good both sides, coin door is in good shape and will polish up nicely altough 3/6 of the studs are broken off at the back.  I still have the stud parts if you want to get them welded back on.  Marquee has been touched up at the back, you can't tell where I've done this as it was around the edges on the black.  Bezel is very good too and holding together well.  Control panel will clean up well but an overside button has been fitted - can't tell if this was a factory hack or operator hack.  Replacing it with a black outer/white inner would make it less obtrusive.  Metalwork under control panel will need restoration or perhaps even remaking due to corrosion - it's a simple sheet with 2 folds.  Back door is missing.

Trackball has been rebuilt with new bearings, it thunks a bit on one axis due to a flat spot on the roller.  Coin door lighting and marquee lighting works (new bulbs on the door, strange flying wire types).  Power supply completely rebuilt - new line filter, caps and diodes - voltages all correct and match my other machine.  Monitor is not the original but it's the right model, original was necked unfortunately before I got it.  Picture isn't great and it's very burned, but it works.  New power cable fitted as the old was chewed up totally.  PCB is not working, all I know at the moment is it's not the ROMs, not the RAM, and I can see activity on the ROM address/data lines.  Gives a blank picture.

I've got a spare manual too, back page is missing a piece but the rest is intact.  To get it nice you'll need to sort out the rusted trim under the control panel, fix the PCB, and give it a thorough detailed cleaning.  A damp microfibre cloth is good on the sides, that's how I did the other one.

Looking for £100, collection from Cambridge UK.
