Spent the entire day in hospital today. Results so far: I have gallstones. And as a bonus they also spotted a kidney stone...
I had a very hefty stumach pain last wednesday night. Was the third time it happened this year. I went to the weekend docter the first time but she failed to spot the cause. The second time was in NYC last summer and that one was hefty. My wife suggested taking paracetamol but I didnt dare, fearing it might worsing things. After a long time I gave in and the pain disappeared until last wednesday,
I tell you, this aint no pain like you have after youve eaten something bad...its in a different class...
Some other symptoms (which I will spare you) made me do some googling and all signs pointed to gallstones.
So went to th docter this morning and she immediatly send us through to hospital.
After the echo things were clear enough. They wanted to keep me for the weekend but because of my birthday tomorrow and the fact that I don't have a fever) they sent me on "weekend leave".
Have to be back sunday evening and moday I get a "nice" examination wih a tube up my throat. Pretty likely after that its surgery to remove the little bastards.....
So.....this means I will be offline around these days.....Ill ask my wife to bring the iPad as often as possible so I can update you guys...
-
Goodluck with that tube down your throat. I had an endoscopie of my stomach a few weeks ago and the hardest part is not throwing up (there's a reason you shouldn't eat or drink beforehand), also related to stomach troubles.
Anyway, happy birthday.
;D

Thanks for the comforting words !
I already have trouble swallowing a pill so this is going to be a nightmare....
-
good luck, andré, we'll be thinking of you. fingers crossed everything works out fine!!! :spaceace:
-
Holy shiat! Im glad you finally get it removed! All the best Dre!!!
-
This sucks big time ... best whishes from the cavemans also :( I had two of those examinations before, they really suck but if your doc is kind enough he will give you a good shot of the stuff that makes you dream of unicorns ... after that you will want an examination every day ;) Good luck ...
-
Sjeez, goodluck with that!
I have a simular experience when i had my moped accident and my lung was punctured.
The "repaired" it from the inside with some sort of device that also needed to enter my throth
dont want to discomfort you, but i did not really like it (mildly put)
So i wish you the best !
Oh, ps, Happy birthday Andre! :-\
-
Oh man, bad luck. :( I hope that you will get rid of those damn stones very soon, and I will pray for you to have a few nice and caring sisters around your bed. :)
In the meanwhile I wish you a very happy birthday tomorrow.

I had the same experience 3 weeks ago (the tube in the throat and all). I think what they gave me to relax was super strong (or maybe I was super weak) because I don't remember a single thing.
After the shot, I woke up sitting on a chair in front of the doctor, couldn't focus on a word he said (fortunately he wrote everything down and put it in my pocket)
Half of this day is completely blurry to me, apparently I called some people and had a strange voice.
I want to believe that I'v been abducted by aliens. ;)
Happy b-day, dude!
-
well at least they will do it down the throath and not like cartman ;D

I didn't get any kind of "trippy" pills :(
All they did for me was use a mild anesthetic gel on the tube and they just kept telling me to relax and watch my breathing. Ah well, at least i could get home on my bicycle right after the exam.
-
Everything will be fine André, do not worry!
Wishing you the best bday from Hungary!
-
that's no funny , Goodluck !

Sad news, goodluck, I'm sure that for the next Eurocade it will be only a bad "souvenir".

Had that problem back in 2004, but they removed my gallbladder... full of stones! Hope it all goes well for you.
If they remove it, you may have trouble with diarreah. Sorry for T.M.I., but the gallbladder plays a role in digestion, and since I've had mine removed, I've had lots of trouble.
Hope you don't have any trouble with a kidney stone.. you will wish you were dead if it comes loose, TRUST ME!
-
Yeah, my uncle had kidney stones and he told me exactly the same, so I will definitly ask of it can be ultrsounded or something...
For now I've been in hospital since late last evening because the pain was simply unbearable. Morphine sure helped after a while and I sleapt reasonably although of course not a long night.
The disadvantage of morphine ? Your belly doesnt like it....
O well a bit of puke is better than the pain. No further action today, HOPEFULLY they can do ERCP on me tomorrow !!!
Thanks for all the kind words !
-
Definatley hope you get better soon!
The morphine works great, but as soon as it wears off... Roaring Headaches!!!!!!!!!
-
damn....I missed that last week :(
All the best wishes from the south-west of Germany!!!!!!! Get well soon!!!
-
Hi André, our thoughts are with you. Wish you all the best. Andreas, Elke, Anna, Verena
-
Thanks to all of my good friends here !!!
I've been off the morphine for quite some time now (all in all I had just two shots). The real nasty pain is gone.
However Ive been also sober for quite a long time, first by choice (not hungry etc.) then because I maybe would have the ESRP today....which hasnt happened.
Had an MRI scan this morning but didnt hear the results yet. Depending on this they decide if I need the other examination....
I have a feeling that they may send me home and schedule a regular operation instead since there are no stones in the opening of the gallblatter but only in the blatter itself....(they can only remove stones from the opening using the tube through my throat).
Anyway...more waiting ahead....but at least I feel better.
-
I totally feel your pain. I was in Florida for Thanksgiving about 2 years ago and I had a gallbladder attack, I thought i was going to die it hurt so bad. My sister had to take me to the ER, was there late after X-rays and sonograms, They determined it was galls stones, I was prescribed Vicodin for them... Got news for you once the attack starts, I think only morphine will take away the pain. I ended up having my gallbladder removed, no more pain!
-
Hey, oh no. That's bad news! I hope everything will work out well and you will be back soon to your arcade machines to do some highscores!
I have an appointment for a gastroscopy the next week. I hope I get this unicorn stuff of which PRC was talking, otherwise it would be a nightmare! Seems like this is some kind of bad-stomach/galls/kindess-times now? There are lots of people telling about their problems.
Anyway, I wish you all the best and keep us posted!
-
Well I did have the tube up my throat examination this morning. Despite MRI and echo not indicating there _was_ a stone in the gallway. They made a small incision in the gallway and removed that plus the others in my gallblatter and also inserted a 'stand' to keep the gallway open.
The examination itself was not as bad as I thought,I was well asleep before they inserted the tube. I did wake near the end though ( I think that was intentially) and for sure felt what they were doing and had some choke up feelings but it was very quickly ready. Did a lot of sleeping and already had my first very light lunch and drinks.
However since they know the stones will soon return they told me I will need to have the blatter removed completely within a couple of weeks. They can do that with three small incisions like an examination operation.
Anyway, I feel resonable now....bit weak still and I can sure feel they "messed around" in there but the typical pain of the gallstones is gone for sure.
If I dont get a fever I will go home tomorrow so lets keep fingers crossed.

When they did mine, it was Laperscopic, they made 4 inscisions (three in the top and one at my navel.) it was quite an experience. I actually had no pain other than the fact it felt like i did 100 situps the day before. It goes away in about a day.

I wish, I would def have some 6 pack abs lol

Good to hear you are going home soon! I'm sure being around your family (and your cabs;)) will speed up the recovery!
-
All the best with this.
I had similar issues between 2004-2006. The pain was incredible and I ended up in hospital a few times
I had the camera down my throat, but like others they sprayed the back of my throat and then gave me a shot of some really strong drugs. I only remember bits of it. They also gave me an ultrasound
Anyway I ended up having my gallbladder removed. They did it by cutting three few small holes in you stomach and then remove the gallblader through the hole near your belly button.
It's true that you can have issues, going to the toilet a lot afterwards. You've got to eat in small portions, and this make it less likely to happen. It took me a while to recover but it's good to eat again without fear of horrendous pain

Is that for ever after or just during recovery ?
Anyway thats what they will do with me too in a few weeks.
Had a very good night, only awoke one time. Very nice nurse last two nights...she reminded me of a Dutch pop hit by Doe Maar in the 80's ;D ;D ;D ;D
I dont have a fever so if my blood samples that they will take this morning are ok, Im heading back home.
@Béla: Dont let Zita get jeaulous...... ;D ;D ;D

O well.....might be a good thing for me ;)
Back home since early this afternoon.
Turns out there are still stones left in my blatter (they can't extract them with ERCP unless they're in the gallway). will be up for a check early december and then it's Laperscopic (or as we say in Holland a "Kijk operatie" (= "look operation") but they do a little more than just looking ;)
Normally it should be in hospital and return home the next day...
Gotta thanks everyone for their support, it really helps !
(P.S......I'd never thought to be actually happy to see some brown shit today ! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D)

Glad youre back home - and your shit looks normal.... ;D
-
Yeah, we are very happy with the knowledge that the shit is fine again ;D
there is a expression my parents always told to me when i was recovering from illness, and there is a certain truth in it..
"als de roepert en de poepert het weer doen, dan is de ziekte ver over"
dont know how to translate that :D sorry bout that..
-
Here's something a little grosss... lol
When they did the laproscopic, afterwards it felt like everything would shift around in there when I sat up or moved. Like Jello....
ewwwww

Well.....I have about the same feeling right now. Its like cramps/shooting pains now and then and I can actually see them happening....of course Im off the painkillers now so that doent help a lot...
I imagine its either because of the incision they made in the gallway or that my body is trying to reject the stand they put in there. I hope its just simple normal reactions though....
Still I slept extremely well last night, nothing like your own bed.....taking it easy next days...
Lost 6.5 kg in the process....but that's not much of a problem ;)
-
Tomorrow it's surgery time, finally. There was a period without any problems but the last week the slumbering pain returned. In a way a good thing as it surely increases my motivation ;)
Hope to report again soon...
-
No worries, André, you're in good hands!

Thanks friends !!!
Just back home, although it took some more time (and a couple more small holes in my belly) everything went fine.
I hated that they woke me up in the recovery room though. Wasnt worth very much and slept in intervals last night. Feel better already now though it sure will be hanging on the bank/bed coming time...
-
Good to hear Andre!
-
Great!! Welcome to the real world André!! ;D
-
great to hear everything went well ;) wb back

Great to hear that you're OK. You will be up and running pretty soon again, and the best thing is that gallstones are history for you, my friend. Take care and recover well. :)
