Title: Trip to NY..
Post by: Muerto on March 27, 2011, 02:23:03 PM
Hiya guys..
I´ve been inactive here for a short while, because of a little trip....
Last Saturday i went for New York on a little trip to visit some of my girlfriends relatives, they lived about 2 hours north of NY, but we had a total of 2 days in the big(http://www.opdenkelder.com/muerto/arc/NY/BA.png)

BTW....
This is how DLF looks like when you haven´t been there for a while!!!!!:

I had asked on the KLOV forum if there was any arcades, and got a few replys, unfortunately we did´nt have time to visit any one.
Though, when we went down to take the bus at the bus station, we (of course) had to have tickets, and as i´m walking through the door i spot something in the corner......

Wow! a genuine Elevator Action!!! - i would love to take that home!!!...
Couldn't resist, so i took a few games, and yes, i sucked BIG time, however, here´s the first EA highscore:

800 Points!!!!! WOW!!!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Overall in good shape... and i think (hope) it was running the real deal...

So, in NY we saw Ground Zero, it was quite touching, as i exactly knew where i where and what i was doing when the attack happen..

The new Freedom Tower, and a building missing a Monkey  ;)

cool find in the wild, michael! elevator action is a great game, i need to add this to my collection one day ...

did you have a great time in the big apple? for some reason, new york is one of those cities i'm not interested in at all, probably because it is featured in almost every freaking american movie. sometimes i've got the feeling that new york = usa (same as paris = france) :P

Well, it's quite simply a city you have to go, to feel, to taste, to breathe, to live instead of see on some screen.
Was there in 1998 and loved every second of it. Can't explain it. You just have to see it at least once in your life.

The plan is to return this summer so WHERE WAS THAT EA Michael, I _have_ to beat your hi-score !
(Maybe I can even sell them my EA bootleg board as a back-up unit ;) ;) ;) ;))

Barcade is on my list of places to go of course :)

Love that EA, especially since it was "hidden" and you found it randomly.
Sadly I've spent a couple days in NY 2 years ago and wasn't aware of that cool barcade (very nice game selection there).
Even more sadly during the same trip I've spent a week in Portland (OR) and didn't even visit Ground Kontrol (http://www.groundkontrol.com/)  :'(

Well that makes me 2 good excuses to go back there asap  ;).

nice find in the field!

NYC rocks bigtime. I visited it once, and it's a real 24/7 madhouse. It gives you a lot of energy.

OK, let's see if I can find it and I'll try to beat your hi-score. I never played EA before either, so we have equal chances ;)

If I won't be in the area, I'm very sure there's an EA at Funspot ;)
