Title: A Bally/Midway TIMBER CAB in Italy !!! I can't believe !!! * RESTORATION *
Post by: scr33n on November 23, 2010, 06:53:34 PM
One month ago ....

Here what I've found ... (Vicenza - Italy):

sorry ... seller's photos, not great quality:

Original Bally/Midway TIMBER cab in Italy!!!!!! :o :o :o

(http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7414/timber001.jpg) (http://img263.imageshack.us/i/timber001.jpg/)

and complete:

(http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/5079/timber002.jpg) (http://img132.imageshack.us/i/timber002.jpg/)

Tapper sideart ?  ??? Yep ... from Klov:

All dedicated machine housings were originally Tapper cabinets. If you peel away the lumberjack sideart you will find original Tapper sideart underneath (we are not advocating you try this, however!).

(http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/9369/timber003.jpg) (http://img600.imageshack.us/i/timber003.jpg/)

only one side with Timber arts  ::) :-[ :'(

(http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/3283/timber004.jpg) (http://img259.imageshack.us/i/timber004.jpg/)

and working ..... no no no ... unfortunately the Timber PCB has serious problems (no sprite, bad sound and movement problems  :?)

(http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/9130/timber005.jpg) (http://img829.imageshack.us/i/timber005.jpg/)

and the monitor has bad burn  :-X .... ok no problems .... I've already the solution  ;) :spaceace:

holy macaroni, holy cow, holy smokes, holy WHATEVER :o :o :o

you lucky SOB - i never thought i'd see a TIMBER over here in europe - what an incredible catch, i totally envy you ;D one of my arcade collecting goals is to get the "mustache guy games" together: timber, tapper and domino man. so far, i've only aquired one (domino man), but that's better than none, right? btw, i thought you were out of room ;)

good luck with the resto, that machine is already looking fabulous as it is ... well worth another WOW!!!

oh, i forgot: how did you find that beauty? was it expensive? looks as if italy is the place for some pretty cool cabs ...

+1

You may be able to find NOS Timber art for the side you are missing.

Also don't pull your side art off until you have seen the quality of any repro art - you may get dissapointed in it and then you'll be stuck with a cab without any art at all.

I would put the side with no Timber art next to another cabinet so you cannot see it and just sit and wait for a NOS side..

Control panel in its original condition:

(http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/6162/cpresto1.jpg) (http://img138.imageshack.us/i/cpresto1.jpg/)

cp art is broken, control panel full of rust and .... what about this ugly cigarettes holder on the right?  :o ::)

ok no problem .... bye bye old art - is always a shame to throw away the old and original cp art  :'( :'(:

(http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/528/cpresto2.jpg) (http://img143.imageshack.us/i/cpresto2.jpg/)

cp conditions - rust everywhere:

(http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/55/cpresto3.jpg) (http://img571.imageshack.us/i/cpresto3.jpg/)

now it's better  :P :-*:

(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5350/cpresto4.jpg) (http://img88.imageshack.us/i/cpresto4.jpg/)

but I don't like these holes - can cause future problems with new CPO ...

so ...

(http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/1844/cpresto5.jpg) (http://img140.imageshack.us/i/cpresto5.jpg/)

I don't know what i must think of this cabinet. IMO the art is rather ugly but there is something special about.
I can't exactly say what it is, maybe the original theme?

Nevertheless you are doing a great job restoring it.

OK guys ... and finally Timber cab resto is finished:

(note: the coin door is in it's original condition - great condition for a 26 years old coin door - only a little rust on coin reject ... but I can live with that ... for the moment  ;))

that is another AMAZING job you did there, max! well done!!! i'm officially jealous, but you totally deserve to be the owner of that cab.

of course the question has to be asked: what's next? i assume you still have space for 2 or 3 cabs, right? ;)
