I have some cabs with strange decals that I can't remove, especially the glue they used for them.
Do you have any trick to make them disappear?

that looks nasty! i'd try to get as much of it off as possible by hand, then i would start with warm water and some mild "meister proper" :P. if that doesn't work, try a product like decal remover or petroleum ether. you should be able to get most of it off eventually ... of course, you need a lot of patience. don't rush it, rather take your time, because once it's ruined, it IS ruined for good.
-
sometimes "tapping"it with a new sticker will help also
the glue from the new will catch the old pieces and then you pull them with it
-
Thanks, I will try both methods! ;D
-
For glue sticky rest, go for alcohol (alcohol to burn? for home use)
it smells a bit but it's simply the best for that.

+1 I use denatured alcohol for this, 70%. Don't drink it.
-
Maybe put a hair dryer to it to soften the glue?
-
Lol, a lot of options, I hope some of them will work! ;D
Thanks.

If you still have the piece of art removed, try tapping the glue on the side with the back of the piece (the "glued" side).

thats exactly the way i mean ;)
I always do that with pricetags wich tend to stick always..

We have stuff here called "Goo Gone" it smells like citrus, I'm sure you have an equivilant in Belgium? Works Great for removing stickers!

That, and Citristrip are the stuff's I would love to import to Europe as I can see a huge market for it being environmentally safe etc.....
I do think that I saw a similar product last time I was at a hardware store, forgot the name though !

I get friends to bring Goo Gone back for me from the US. Great stuff, works really well and doesn't rip your nasal passage off when you use it like the local stuff does.
The canadian version has a huge skull and crossbones on it warning about it's danger, the US has none. Go figureā¦

somehow i've got the feeling that i saw this stuff at someone's place just yestersay ;)
anyway, there's also goo off which is supposed to be a great product as well, so perhaps your friends could bring a box of everything with them for all the forum guys here 8)

I found this in a local store's website, called E21 and described as "removing decals and the remaining glue".

I give it a try next week! ;D

That was Google Gone. It erases your search history for dodgy items.

That's a bigger bottle I think. Also don't want them to end up in Guantanamo for bringing bomb ingredients onto planes :)

wasn't that supposed to be closed already? :P

I've just removed a load of stickers from a batch of laptops I'm selling off. I used isopropyl alcohol and it got rid of the glue / residue a treat!
The only thing you may have to be careful with, is that I was doing this directly on plastic with no print / artwork underneath. No hint of a sticker having ever been there now though.

Finally I had time to visit the local store for some italian stuff:

It's completely disappeard within a minute, just a bit brighter in the area where the decal protected it from scratches. ;D
Thanks for all your help, I found the perfect material for this kind of job and it costs only 3 eur! ;D
-
Very good !
the color fade is always after many years , but not bad at all !

Give the whole marquee a going over with Novus 2, it'll make the difference less obvious (in a good way).

Unfortunately it doesn't fit in mine, it's bigger, or let me say my strange Joust cab is smaller! ;D :( >:(
-
Nothing strange about your Joust, it's European !!!
Just like mine ...
And indeed, the US marquee won't fit in there, but I thought you had the Euro-size marquee ??

The marquee is from Quarterarcade, I ordered some stuff from Anthony and there was enough space for it in the package, so I gave it a try.Later I realized, that the 2 versions have different sizes, but it doesn't matter, it will be useful for decoration or maybe I will donate it to Chris's marquee collection if he will be a good guy! ;D
-
.....I cut mine to fit in the cab.....not the best thing on earth, but it's much better than a gaping hole with a bare TL tube in there :D
-
maybe I will donate it to Chris's marquee collection if he will be a good guy! ;D
I'm sure you know that already but: since 2010 all donation to ChrisChris can be officially 100% deducted from your taxes ::)

The first package of donations is waiting for you in Brussels! ;)

Right!!! Thanks again for that!
I'll grab that this week... sorry about the delay very busy blasting vector asteroids at the moment ;)
