Man, that 0.54% of the world record is depressing. Then again, not being like the WR holder is VERY relieving !

I prefer the real stuff over drawings, but I figure he's not getting much....

 ;)
Though to get back on topic; It seems like he went for 300 million and then stopped playing.... maby he could easily get twice as much!!??

If you can stay awake that long yes.... I think it took him over 49,5 hours to get this score.

Talking about records, take a look at this italian guy:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgIlssrCm70 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgIlssrCm70)

He used to play for hours some games like BombJack and Nibbler back in the 80s. Some arcades were forced to kick him out to close their doors

Aloha, since we're talking about records, I just had a couple of games on my SW and:

HAH !

FINALLY I managed to get to the end of the third trench level and blow up the damn Deathstar for the 3rd time....
In fact, I was EXTREMELY close to the end of the 4th run but the catwalks were even crazier then in the 3rd....

O well, a nice improvement it is :D

Impressive  :o

I cannot pass 851943

Which level do you select at the beginning of the play? I use to select 'medium', but for this high score I think I selected 'hard' for the huge bonus given after the first death star destroyed  :P
My biggest problem is the trench... I'm loosing all my shields there  :-\ I rarely destroy the second death star

Always hard because else it's impossible (well almost) to reach a score like that.

What are your shield and difficulty settings ? I actually have to check them myself....but I think they are Atari default now.

By the way does the MAME version save all the hi-scores ? If so that's not according to the original. Only the top 3 scores are saved.

Did you rebuild your yoke already ? My yoke was pretty good when I bought the cab, but it's even better now. Some cabs I played have terrible yokes, it would be impossible to reach a high score like mine with those wacky yokes.

Rebuilding is a lot of work but very much worth it.

I have no screen shot unfortunately but my best is 3.8 million or so. Mark from retroclinic.com can confirm as he was there watching me. Took me maybe 25 miinutes of playing.

I had a board I won on US eBay about 6 years ago that I got and managed to fix, the highscore on it was 65 million +

I have 2 very good scores on this machine.

Firstly my own 'solo effort' is 55,000,000 which was on a '6 shields 1 shield back' (thats what i call it) setting.I did this on the cockpit version on the pier at Brighton in around 85' (my last holiday with my parents )  i were on it around 7 hours something like that (using the Force on almost every trench helps a lot  8))  started on the hard level to get the maximum bonus of 800,000...

My second score on this was a 'joint effort' with my brother. We scored just over 60,000,000 (again 6 shields 1 shield back). This was in 'Shaws Amusements' in Scarborough North Yorkshire,

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Scarborough&hl=en&ll=54.283179,-0.397158&spn=0.001679,0.005284&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=13.940309,43.286133&vpsrc=6&hnear=Scarborough,+North+Yorkshire,+United+Kingdom&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=54.283179,-0.397158&panoid=N66__3j67usp22KMaJsXLg&cbp=12,146.41,,0,5.66

The was in 84'.We took 'turns' in playing i'd do an hour or so then he'd come back and do an hour or so....probably on it for around 8 hours at a guess...

I was once in Bridlington in 84' (can't remember the name of the arcade now) and i were playing away (had around 16,000,000 at the time) and this guy came telling me to come off the machine or he'd unplug it,i told him to p1ss off (a cheeky thing to do as i were only 13 at the time  ) or i'd tell the arcade owner...he told me he was the arcade owner and proceeded to unplug the machine   i scurried off with my tail between my legs

Regarding the WR at 300,000,000.I read years ago (probaby when i were around 16) that the worlds hightest score was 1000,000,000 (presumbaly clocked 10 times as (i think) its clocks at 100,000,000 ?) and this was done in the cafeteria at Leeds University by a few ppl (a group session so to speak)

This is what i read and heard off various ppl,now weather it was just 'chinese whispers' i don't know OR it wasn't witnessed by an official so to speak as well ???

All that hi score bragging is futile without pics.  ;D

The third trench is my problem, I usualy have to start shooting to defend my last shield...

not bragging but i no what ya mean.At the time you just don't think it relevent to take a few photos (didn't have a camera on me at the time also mobile phones wern't around then  )

Its all down to practice, the amount of 10p's i stuffed into these machines is frightening  :o when i think about it  :-[

There were a load of games i were rubbish at,Donkey Kong,Pacman,Battlezone,Asteroids etc...

Its the same with all my high scores, all true but sadly no proof  :(

Sorry to drag up an old thread but just thought i'd post a few photo's of my score on Starwars (i'm the proud owner of an upright now  8) and been playing like mad to get my groove back  :D...anyway i stripped my Yoke down last weekend for re-powdercoat and thought i'd just have one more blast....finally found my groove and came up with this healthy respectable score (well not a bad score for not really playing the game within the last 25 years or so  8)

setting were 6 shields with 1 shield bonus and set on hardest difficulty setting

Russ... 8)

@level42....hope i can brag a bit now i've got some photo's up  :D  ;)

Sorry to bring up a old post. But Russ, could you maybe record your gameplay some time? I always die on the 4 trench (starting from hard). Only passed it a couple of times, so far my best score is 1.656.468 (check here http://chassisarcade.dk/high-scores/current/)

Does the trench level keep changing, or does it at some point start over?

Yes you can.

I just can't figure out how you guys do it...

sorry for a late reply regarding filming a good SW game....I'll sort something out and pop it onto Youtube.

The T&G settings are 'Hard' level (not 'Hardest' to which I do usually play on).So I'll play on 'Hard' level with 6 shields start and 1 bonus shield

Russ... ;D

Thats a great score right there matey. When I got my upright last year I were so 'out of practice' at not played or even seen a Starwars (upright and cockpit) in the flesh for knocking on 25 years it took me a long time to find my playing 'groove' again.I just could not get passed wave 12 for ages ...But practice made good for me...

Keep on playing and you'll soon be massing up 20/30 million + in no time...The game just does not get any harder in the higher waves

A little improvement on my last youtube SW score,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnliAAkyZcE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnliAAkyZcE)

The game is only from around the 27mill mark to 30mill (the last 26mins or so from a 5hr game)

Its in 2 parts (the second video is only about 3-4 mins long)

You may want to update the high score chart on the first post of this thread...

Had a very long game today and managed to smash my personal best by 7 million...

Playing time was around 9 1/2 hrs and the setting were,

Hardest setting with 6 shields start with 1 shield bonus...

62,337,744

(http://i208.photobucket.com/albums/bb269/russelljaques/DSCF1370_zps7e01685e.jpg) (http://s208.photobucket.com/user/russelljaques/media/DSCF1370_zps7e01685e.jpg.html)

I did record the whole game so i'll upload to youtube (well maybe not all parts as that'll take forever  :D) but the last hour or so if thats ok

Russ...
