Title: Gameplay question regarding brake pedal on driving games
Post by: dimmu--borgir on May 14, 2010, 11:53:22 PM
Ok, choose to post here even if I'm not sure if it's in the correct area.

Anyway, will soon have a Chase H.Q. I'm thinking about doing a Microsoft Dual Strike hack for the steering wheel and pedal. The main question is the pedal. It's only one pedal on my cab, but I have another pedal which have two pedals which I will probably make place for, but don't want to destroy to much on my cab.

How often do you use the break pedals in those games I'm going to play? I'm definately not a newbie on playing arcade games but I haven't spent very much time with driving games.

Here are some examples:

Outrun/Turbo/Outrunners
Virtua Racing
Daytona USA
Sega Rally
Rave Racer
etc...

Anyone?

Thanks

Forget the breaks, don't push the gas 2 secs before turns! ;D

in outrun, i always let the gas go, or shift back to low, and never use the brakes  8)

Ok, thanks. Seems that I can keep the cab original then...

With old style driving games (such as OutRun, Chase H.Q.) break pedal have a very limited use. Playing "newer" racings like Daytona USA, for example, could require that pedal to trigger the drifting  ;)
