Isn't she a beauty? Okay, needs some work and the PCB seems to be broke, I've got time and this will just fit perfect in Logan's Gameroom v2!  ;D ;D ;D

not bad, but i'd prefer the american version with the DD marquee and the wonderful sideart. i just can't stand that woodgrain stuff (except on very old games).

nevertheless, dig dug is a great game! good luck with your restoration, looking forward to seeing it up and running in V2  8)

Guys,

There are 2 US version uprights on www.eBay.de at the moment.

I prefer the Euro one - much nicer (and rarer ;p)

yes, but the seller is always asking way too much!

It depends. What's a US Digdug worth? 350E? Maybe upto 450E? They have also obviously come from the USA also so then add shipping costs.

Now factor in that shipping has already been done and any taxes have been paid, AND there is also no apparent shipping damage and I think he can ask his 900 or so price.

I quote

For my experience, even with 40 ft containers (the cheapest way - cost x cab),

prices for a single cab are high from USA

Think i need a new one (http://www.mamemarquees.com/dig-dug-cpo-1-p-709.html), there a part missing on the top :(

A bit rusty (I'll take care of that later):

Well, this is in good condition, but shouldn't it be made of real glas? This one is made of plexiglas??

Now that you've mentioned it, the DigDug has the same shape as your Fast Freddie. It didn't notice that earlier

Atari released a few games in this cabinet style.

DigDug, Kangaroo, Fast Freddie, Gravitar and Black Widow. From my research Arabian was never released.

I have the entire collection of the above.

Atari Ireland also made another style of 'Euro' cabinet. This was for Time Pilot, Millipede and Popeye. I have a Time Pilot, and had 2 Millipedes, however I have a nice US style Millipede so decided to sell the Euro projects not in good condition).
I have never found a Popeye - I have heard from people that remember playing this cabinet style however, and there is a flyer for it.

There's also myth of Asteroids too for the Euro DigDug style cabinet. I actually have a marquee glass for one... I can post some pictures of all if anyone is interested.

I was thinking, the "wooden style" sideart on the cab really is in bad condition, would it look nice to just paint it white like the US version an add the sideart they used? I know, not the same size and cabshape, but it could look real nice??

what do you think? or should i try to restore the original euro-cab-wood-look?

You know the Euro machines had side art right? It's very rare to find but a NOS set was on eBay US 2 months ago. Here's what it looks like:

Ultimately what you do with the cabinet is up to you. However I would first Photoshop the cabinet with white sides to give yourself an idea of how it would look prior to painting it.

The woodgrain vinyl can still be found online if you do want to restore it as original as possible.

According to the flyer the side art was optional:
"Optional side panel decals are also available."

I like the cab on the flyer though 8)

wow, thank you. no, i didn't know of sidearts for the euro version. I cant really tell on the small pic, but was it wooden style + a grafic sideart or is it painted black??  ??? ???

Oh, and on the right side of the flyer, right next (on the left) to "pump control" you can see a white side, was the euro version also available in white or is that the US version (which was white + sideart)

Thx again!

The white side one is the US one.

The optional side art for the Euro version is applied to the woodgrain. The side art as you can see doesn't cover the entire machine side.
